Initial review of Meguiars #21 w/PICS

Joe: Definately everything I look for in a review. Thanks for taking the time.

As usual, the car looks amazing! I would have to say I think I've seen the flake *pop* more on your car before but #21 seems to have a nice rich glow to it. Any products you would compare to overall?

Thanks man, yeah I think Prep/UPC/UPP makes my flake "pop" the most, but this #21 is no slouch. :D

The only thing that really compares to it in all aspects of application/removal and final looks is the new GC. That is the closest product to it IMO.

I didn't know there was a new GC... Hmmm..

ebpcivic, Thanks so much for the review!

Now, about those cleaners... From what I read, 21 is supposed to be Meguiars 'pro lsp'. In my mind, that should mean it's made to be put onto a perfectly prepped vehicle, this requiring no cleaners...

I'm seeing now that this isn't true... Which, in that case, just puts it in the boat with GC and NXT, correct? Maybe a mix of the two, based on your review...

Do these cleaners seem more chemical or abrasive?

I'm not one of those 'cleaners = bad' guys, but I was really hoping for something different from a cleaner wax.. I have enough of those already...

ah well...

The cleaners are very, very, very mild, on my ss red toyota I got very little paint transfer on my pad. I would say that the cleaners would be more chemical than abrasive.

IMO it is definitely NOT a cleaner wax. The again, I don't consider NXT a cleaner wax either. :nixweiss

I find the cleaners to be *slightly* I mean very slightly stronger than NXT. Definitely less cleaners than GC, #20, or MPPP. As best I can tell they are chemical.

I like it and will probably use it quite a bit on customers cars as I like the look and the short flash time. I guess I will be springing for the 64oz bottle soon. :D I will wait and see how durable it is before I buy though. I need at least a few months if I am going to apply it to customer's cars.

Thanks for the compliments on the car!!!

Hey, no problem. Credit where credit is due...

Do us all a favor and get back to us on the durability...

I suppose if it's more durable than NXT i'll switch over on customers cars too...

thanks again for the review!

Just wanted to bump this thread for a little durability update. On my own car, I couldn't resist and have been using OCW weekly since I applied the #21. Nice pair BTW,...

On the fiance's SUV I applied the #21 just under 6 weeks ago. Since then I have washed with Meguiars NXT 6 times and once with QEW. NO QD's, no boosters, nothing, just wash and dry.

If you are looking for the "hydrophobic" bead pattern when sprayed with a hose (like #16, UPP, etc) this is NOT the sealant for you. It sheets water when sprayed with a hose, but does bead in the rain really well. She called me this morning and commented that the beads were flying towards her as she drove(she has a well-trained eye after 10+ years of putting up with my sickness).

Slickness is still fair at this point, after washing the WW still has a "glide" to it as it passes along the paint.

Sprayed full blast with a hose:

Long enough to put the hose down:

15 seconds:

After the wash, new vroom dressing on the tires,

Thanks for the durability update and great (although massive file size) pics. ;)

Sorry, I didn't know they still made 56K. :p :D

I usually automatically resize to 800X600, I guess I need to start resizing to 400X400 or so. I just forget.......:o

640x480 is reccomended with about a 100k file size per, FYI. I've learned to deal with it, even though my screen is 1900x1200 and they look like thumbnails to me :(.

Love the shots though Joe, the paint looks amazing.

Very nice. I just picked up a 8 ounce bottle of this stuff and will be using it on a 1999 dark blue corolla (needs to be buffed out again.) Will report back in 2 weeks with results and pictures.

Well sure your pics look amazing and I am sure this is a quality product but trying it on your Vtec is cheating....I mean NuFinish would look decent on that finely prepped car. :D
