Compulisiveness got the best of me.... I bought the Flex XC 3401 today, it sit's on my dining room table (staring at me) as I type this.

As they say, I do not suffer from insanity, I enjoy in it. Should I feel better that I am not the only one? ;) :rofl

plus $130-150 less than the Festool.

$140 as I got it for $300 shipped and Festool was $440 shipped. That should also be less than $100 more than what revised UDM is supposed to cost.

That's what this place wanted too but price matching quickly took care of that. I will let you know the contact once I get tool in my hands and make sure everything is OK as this is my first time I am dealing with this vendor. Let me know if you are like me and can not wait a week. :D

sorry guys...I was out washing my car, so first thing tomorrow I can get to :buffing:

I got mine for $300...here's where I got it from:

Dixie Construction :: Store Locations

They're a southeast tool distributor.

Call the Greenville SC location and ask for Jeff. He's the guy who took care of me...nice guy. I'm all but possitive they'll ship it to you (I doubt for free though). But since the Flex US dist center is here, it should be just the shipping cost from SC to where ever you are.

This is like the night before Christmas when I was a kid...I'll lay my head down tonight with such anticipation for what tomorrow brings. Plus I had a killer week at work and it's about 95 degrees out now, I just didn't have it in me...

Though I will admit it was hard to not at least give the hood a once over.

I did put a pad on it and cranked it up though, the vibration question was killing me.

Mind you I was just running it in air, I have no idea how it will handle/react once it's on the paint...but I will say I was quite impressed by the minimal amount of vibrations.

It's also a bit heavier than a PC, but it's a much more substantial/larger machine too. So it's not really an apples to apples.

Post some pics of the Flex?? I guess I could tomorrow. Is there anything specifically you'd like to see on the machine??

That's what got me, the ease...and a bit of compulsion.

and to get one is like trying to hunt down the Holy Grail!!! :)

I did not feel that way. It took me like 15 minutes from calling Flex to calling few places to moment order was placed. Ruttrow needs to hold his horses a little bit. I did promise to post where I got mine once I assure my order is in my hands without any issues. He said he can wait. It seems he can not and gets frustrated and give up too easy. I am supposed to be having mine tonight. That means he should be able to place order in all of five minutes on Monday.

I normally keep my opinion to myself but, first off I'm glad it only took you 15 minutes, I really am. When I called Flex they told me they had 81 in stk. but they could not sell to me direct and that I needed to go thru a distributor. I understand that. The number for the distributor Flex gave me had no idea what part I was talking about, they gave me another number to call which I did. I gave the person that answered the phone the P/N and she told me someone would call me back. They did call back and asked if I was sure I had The P/N right because it was not in the catalog, I assured him I did. When he called back again he told me that the part was in stock @ the factory and the price was 480.80.

Frosty was then nice enough to give me the name of where he walked in locally and got his, I sent them an email and was told they do not stock any Flex and thank you. My point here is that if it's that difficult to get one of these I don't need it. I'm frustrated only because I have been in mfg 16+ years and can honestly say if any of our customers got run around like I did we wouldn't have any customers. We always say if we can't meet customers needs that someone else will. We are not the only shop of our kind. Just like they are not the only mfg. of an RO polisher. No good customer service= no sales in my book. Don't get me wrong I appreciate what you and Frosty have done, but if the mfg can't give a place to purchase that's a problem.

IMHO that is not due to Flex but due to distributors that are hiring people that do not care. I have experienced that, unfortunately, in every place, not just when it comes to tools. When I want something I find a way to get it. I am not going to let few people that are just collecting their pay checks stop me dead in my tracks. Even distributor that I got it from did not have part number in their system (tool is too new) but person I was dealing with had the right attitude, took my number, called whoever he needed to call to get right info to make sale happen, and called me back in less than 5 minutes and done deal.

This will be my last post about this. If you read the first couple of lines of my last post I called the distributor "FLEX" told me to call, what you are talking about has nothing to do with distributors, it has to do with "FLEX" the manufacturer, giving me the phone number to call and order one that I could not order from. I don't care who the mfg is, if you call them direct to ask where an item can be purchased and they give you a number that is no good that is a mfg. issue, not a distribution issue.

So if, say, you are looking for who carries certain Levi's product and Levi's tells you to go to Sears because they are supposed to carry it but sales person at Sears ends up being clueless it is Levi's fault as if they are in control over what happens at Sears? Yeah, I can see logic in that. Not.
