Infiniti paint stinks!

I've had my G35S for nearly two years. During that time I'm religiously followed the advice and used products sold at this site. To no avail however. The paint is loaded with tiny scratches that no amount of buffing seems to remove.



Has anyone else ever had this problem with Infiniti/Nissan paint?
 
I can confirm that it is soft. I have a 2005 black G35 Coupe, and no matter how careful I am (wash it using the two bucket system, air dry the car, etc). Every year I gotta re-polish the car because its covered in swirl marks. I had a black BMW and only polished it once in 5 years.

Sounds like a problem with you and not with the car. You need a good polish such as 106FA that you can finish down with to remove all tiny scratches.



BTW even if you do use the two-bucket method, etc., you are still gonna eventually get swirls.

Maybe you're right. I've been using Sonus SFX-1 as my polish with an orange LC CCS pad. Maybe I need a stronger polish. Sonus isn't working for me.

IMO you need less cut!





so you are trying to finish with a orange pad



that's part of your plroblem :secret





IMO you need 1 or 2 more polishing steps after the combo you listed

to finish the prep
 
Definitely get some Menzerna. I tried Sonus SFX-1 with little results on my G37, then bumped up to Menzerna SIP with almost perfect results (I was a little too impatient with it). One more polish and it will be flawless.

I used SONUS SFX 1, 2 3 PLUS UPPP.



I went from the orange pad to a white one to a green one. But then I went to a DAS orange for the UPPP. Could that have been my downfall?



I then used a gray pad for DWG and did UPGP by hand of course.:think:

after you did sfx1/orange

sfx2 /white,

sxf3 green



did you have defects?
 
I wasn't working in a very bright light, so it's hard to know. I don't see the fine scratches until I'm out in the sunlight. I was working in my garage.



I hate to do it, since I went through 2 layers of DWG and 3 layers of UPGP, but do I need to redo the SFX-3 with the green pad?

You should always do a IPA or prep sol wipe down and use good lighting or sun to inspect for flaws before LSP. This will save you a lot of agony.
 
rule #1 you have to be able to see what you are working on!

...how did you know when to switch between polishes if you can't see it?

get some lights , move the car, something



#2 why apply any any DWG or UPGP

if you don't know if you removed the defect to your standards?



this has nothing to do with your paint
 
anyone figure out how to work on the new infiniti paint that allegedly magically repairs minor scratches and blemishes? hear its a bear to polish and last time i checked, infiniti didn't know what the procedure was either...
 
I'm no expert, but I'm thinking your problem is that one step you have going from the green pad to the orange pad when you should have done it the other way.:nixweiss
