Infiniti M35 waterspot removal and correction

I know that CMA's is a great towel (I love mine), and its not as overpriced as the Griot's one. I have never used the Griots, and considering I can get the big blues cheeper, I don't know that I ever would.

I have no experience with the Griot's MF drying towel, though I can tell you that CMA's Big Blue towel rocks. I tried it for the first time last weekend and was amazed by how well it works. I had to wring the towel out twice before drying the whole car (Volvo S60).

Prior to CMA's Big Blue towel, I was a big fan of P21S's Drying Towel. I can say that the P21S will be relegated to backup duties now.

Yeah, I love mine, too... I caught Holly drying the dog with it the other day... She said "hey, this thing is great... I only needed one towel!"

The owner of this car has a wicked fast Trans Am (runs 9's) and since his car and mine make nearly identical power, there's always been a friendly rivalry between us and the occasion fun verbal joust! One day he PMed me (not a big suprise), about his Infiniti needing some serious work (was suprising since he is pretty much only concerned with racing).

When I showed up, the damage was worse than I thought. Having been hit by sprinklers with recycled water on a hot day had a horrific outcome on this car. And it was just made worse with all the heavy marring and swirls. The waterspots could be removed, but the deep black finish left behind would stand out like a sore thumb against the rest of the heavily swirled paint. So the decision was made to correct the whole car. I only had the one day to work on it, so it was going to be a long day. Thankfully the paint on the Infiniti was soft and worked easily.

Correction was done with Makita rotary with GI Evo backing plate + LC PFW + M105 with GI EVP. The GI EVP made for practically no dusting with the M105 and much better working time. This combo made great work of the waterspots. Was then followed by PCXP + LC white + Menz SIP. After multiple IPA wipedowns, LSP was Blackfire Wet Diamond.

The sun had reached a low angle and was quickly being hidden by nearby houses and trees so the sunshots were limited, but I got as many as I could to show the correction.

Thanks Dan! Its Gloss-It EV Pad Prime. It just about eliminates dusting and can add working time to just about any polish/compound. Also if you use a little extra it can reduce the cut just slightly which is perfect if your polish/pad combo is like 2% too aggressive but the next one down doesn't cut enough. Very versatile.

Curious as to why you did not stick with Evolution cut for the heavy compounding??, car looks nice though and to get that all done in one day is almost unbelivable.

I didn't have the Evolution cut at the time, only the Extreme Cut. Tried the Extreme cut, but it wasn't cutting fast enough on the hard water spots. So with the time constraints I reached for the M105. The EVP really helped the 105 finish down very nicely tho, and not having to deal with dusting was nice too.

Yeah it was a crazy long day. I brought breakfast with me and when I saw what I was in for, I skipped eating it. Also skipped lunch, and had dinner on my way home. It was about 10 hours with zero downtime except to take an occasional drink of water.

Once again, Jeff from Immaculate Reflections, takes a challenge and grabs it by the neck and kicks it in the teeth!
Just a beautiful job on the M35. You always get great results with the GI products. How do they compare with the Meg's twins?
Keep up the good work Jeff:thumbup:

Got it, have to go with what works when you need to have results. What a long day as I have had many of those over the years.

Another save Jeff, awesome correction work for a customer who must be very happy with your workmanship.:wizard:

Thanks Barry!! That was an awesome visual!

I'd say the main comparison is the M105 vs Extreme Cut. The M205 is a more standard polish, and what I mean by that is that there are a lot out there that do the job just as well. The M105 was a game changer IMO. I have found Extreme Cut VERY effective, but there are differences between the two. The M105 certainly bites hard and FAST, BUT it flashes really quickly and can be temperamental at times and will also dust quite badly. GI Extreme Cut does do an excellent job cutting and can pull out RIDS quite well. It has a longer working time by a large margin, which I like. I think it finishes down nicer than 105. Almost no dusting at all with it. I think the biggest difference is in the way they cut. Since 105 doesn't break down it cuts until you stop. The GI Extreme Cut has diminishing abrassives that break down. So when going between the two you have to take that into account. Just like the first time you got 105, there is a learning curve to it. Same thing with the GI EC. Oh yeah, and a small amount of the EC goes a long way which is nice since it is on the more expensive side. I think they are both excellent products to have.
