Inexpensive clay? Where to buy?

Clay seems to me to be one of the most expensive detailing products/tools. A $15 bottle of polish or wax lasts quite a while as it supplies around 12 or more applications. A clay bar, on the other hand, costs $25 or more and lasts for 5 or so applications, depending on how dirty the car is. Adding in the need to lubricate and the likelihood of dropping (hence, ruining) the clay, this makes claying even more expensive.

So, can someone recommend either a cost-effective brand (in terms of size/amount of clay vs. cost) and/or suggestions for stragies on buying clay?

By the way, I'm not negative on claying. Quite the contrary, I love the results from claying so much that I don't want to think twice about it because of cost.

Thats still more expensive than claymagic from autozone ($9.99 for 100 grams with lube). I believe the CG's bars are 4oz (a bit over 100 grams). I've been looking around for cheaper clay too, and It seems odd that the cheapest is an OTC that you buy in small bulk. It is the only clay I have used, so some others might be better.

Clay is quite expensive...I use Blackfire and Pinnacle clay that costs more than it should.

Optimum Opti-Clay (4oz. bar) sells for $9.99. I'll be looking into that once my supply runs out.

I have optimum clay and love it. I would recomend this clay due to price and quality.

Soft99 (a Japanese brand) sells a 350g bar (about 3/4 the size of a Dial soap) for about $15 but hard to come by even here in Manila.

Now thats cheap! But of course its hard to come by. :(

Yep, i bought like 4 of them when I saw them 3 years ago hehe. Now they're nowhere to be found. Although I've heard that it's quite easy to get them in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan (of course) hehe.

David, if you're reading this: any chance of buying the Autopia bars without the lube? I have enough QD to take a bath in it.
