What is the best dual action polisher on the market, excluding Flex, and why?

Griots Garage

PC7424XP

Shurhold

Meguiars G110v2

I'll be following this thread. I'll be picking up a da in the spring, and I was actually going to ask for your guy's advice. For some reason I was leaning towards the PC. From what I've read it is very reliable.

As a side not, why is Flex excluded from this? Are they a for sure #1?

Best is too hard - like the size & weight of my PC and the power of my GG6. Both do what I need. My Metabo and Hitachi rotaries are quieter and smoother than both. Depends on what I'm doing I guess.

They are not the same type of machine dual action verses forced rotation. I went with the GG mainly because of the power and warranty.

I already own 2 new version GG, a PCXP, a Flex 3401, and a G110.

I am debating whether to buy a G110v2 or a Shurhold.

Is there that much difference in the result from these machines, or is purely preference and feel? Will you have to spend double the time with one versus the other?

(sorry for the attempted thread hijacking Garry)

I have been looking for seriously as of late and when I asked around from the ones I know the majority said Meg's DA as opposed to the plasticky and viewed less reliable Griots despite the warranty.

I don't know that would spend double the time. But the flex is going to give you more power for sure and having to worry about the pad stopping isn't going to happen.

Im not really getting the answers Im looking for so let me ask the question in a different way:

I own 2 GG, a PCXP, a Megs G110, and a Flex 3401.

I am thinking of either buying the Megs G110v2 or the Shurhold.

Does anyone have any experience with either of those two?

For those who do have experience with either one of those two (G110v2 and Shurhold), will I be disappointed if I purchase either one of those?

Do you have any level of dissatisfaction with the ones you own to lead you want a better unit? The reason I ask is I only own the original PC. I am happy with it so I am sticking with it until I need another. When I do I think I am going with the GG based on feedback I have heard.

Now maybe and that's a big maybe you will get the answer your looking for. The Shurehold doesn't seem to be very popular so it will probably be limited. I thought I read somewhere where they were almost bookends other than color and some wondered if they weren't rebranded.

I just ordered a Shurhold so I will report back with my thoughts. I will do a video review of all of my das.

Dude, you ordered a DA with less power than the PCXP, at least according to the tech specs. Who knows, it still might be good.

Ah come on this is over way too quick. I was looking forward to the arguing starting which is better.

Im curious what is wrong with the ones you already own? All are very capable machines, might be chasing a Leprechaun here! I do understand the need to have more tools though!

I am actually pleased that we are respectfully talking and being mature. Its refreshing compared to other forum conversations Ive been sucked into recently.

I stay insanely busy and my others see a ton of use. I just dont ever want to need a da and get stuck with a dead one.

I have had a Meguiars G110V2 for over 3 years and it has been a great, balanced, machine. It has never had an issue, overheated, or broken- even the power cord.
Meguiars did a great job on Engineering the design to meet the needs of the casual and professional Detailer with this.
It has great Rotation, and never fails me.

I also have the Flex3401VRG, a bigger, more powerful, machine, that will really benefit from the Kit that offers 3 different sized Backing Plates even more. I keep the 5" Backing Plate on this machine all the time.

I have had a new from Shurhold machine that the man that owns that company gave to my friend, a very good Boat Detailer here, and he just laughed and gave it to me to try out a few years ago when they first came out.
I tried it, it was very noisy, vibrated a lot more and i could pretty easily stop it from rotating. I remember I made a comment on a Board about this as being a "little toy" and a lot of people got mad. Oh well..
The Shurhold is being sold with a lot of other names, but its still the same machine and in most cases, the same color as the original.
I gave it back to my Boat guy and he sent it back to Shurhold. It would die a very early death in the Boat Detailing Industry if it ever had to do serious compounding of Gelcoat my Boat guy said.

I think I will keep my Meguiars G110V2 and see what the differences are, if I can, with the European version G110V3 I believe.
I dont know what kind of Warranty my Meguiars has, but I dont think its going to break anytime soon. It doesnt even get as hot as Flex 3401VRG does after a long run and multiple on and off cycles..

Had the original P/Cable 7424 and it was ok, but had weak rotation compared to newer machines today.

I hear a lot of people on different Forums say they love their Griot machine and then wouldnt you know, its broken and they have to get it replaced. While that is all good for maybe some casual users, it wont fly in my shop, so I will never get one when I have 2 other reliable ones, the Meguiars and the Flex3401VRG..
