Re: Rice or Muscle

All I'm saying is your calling one of the Mods a name, that is slanderous of his nickname...Not going to win any points that way.

You can post anything that you like here, but they (the Mods) can pluck you out of the sandbox for not playing nice.

Actually it would be Libelous. But hey what do I know. :inspector:

Re: Rice or Muscle

Take a look at post #12, after all it is his City (Detail City that is). MindFlux, I'm not beating you up here so let's not do this. I think you misunderstood what I said, if I said it poorly then my bad.

Alright we can agree to shake on it as a miss understanding. :surrender :dcrules

Re: Rice or Muscle

Although the term "Ricers" is pretty derogatory, I can see cases where it can be applied. However, I'm not bigoted enough to call all import cars "Ricers". Typically, when I see a poorly fitted or painted body kit, big aluminum wing or jumbo exhaust tips, I think of the term "Ricer". But, I don't see a clean, stock-looking G35 Coupe, 350Z, Mazda RX-8, etc as a "ricer".

I also consider Muscle Cars as the V-8 powered beasts of yesteryear. Arguments could be made for the G-Body cars of the 80's. They weren't exactly large displacements or fast (with the exception of the Grand National). But, they were the best the industry had to offer aside from the pony cars. In recent years, I don't know what to call American Muscle. The GTO was a short lived and re badged Australian import. It's performance was nice, but the looks didn't scream "Muscle". The Dodge Charge comes in a nice R/T, Daytona and SRT trims, but can a four door sedan be considered a "Muscle Car"? The are some promising cars on the horizon including the new Camaro and the Challenger.

I'm happy with my little import. I guess that makes me a ricer. Oh well, I've been called a lot worse.

And at the end of the day that's all that matters.

But, I don't see a clean, stock-looking G35 Coupe, 350Z, Mazda RX-8, etc as a "ricer".

I sure have a lot of posts in this thread for someone who isn't an authority. This has all been just my opinion. I define ricer as a Japanese tuner type car that has usually been taken too far in it's cosmetics or visual performance accessories or one that has been poorly put together. Type R stickers will get you this label in a hurry. With respect to the other non-Japanese import cars that fit the ricer mold are usually called Euro Trash in my neck of the woods. I realize one man's trash may be another man's treasure but in this case you usually don't have to look too far to see if a car fits the definition I've provided. In my mind it's not a ricer in factory trim. The term is somewhat derogatory but just as many Mustang's and Camaro's (big rims, white wall tires, V6 under the hood) get the riced out label.

Re: Rice or Muscle

So was I and I miss them but what's in our driveway? A Honda Accord and a Toyota Rav4, both are Japan built.

You know why? because they are ridiculously dependable....but it was an American that showed the Japanese how to build dependable cars back in the late 60's.

I owned many cars built in the USA from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Most, not all, were absolute garbage. I'd say they taught other countries how NOT to build cars. My own experience with those rides is why I drive what I do now.

Re: Rice or Muscle

Yes imports get good gas mileage but Muscle is our heritage and now we're more advanced than the Japense we have Flex Fuel

Re: Rice or Muscle

Flex Fuel is an advanced fuel? I don't think so. It contains less energy per gallon than regular gas. There also are Flex Fueled imports as well. I hardly think that is an argument for American cars.

Off topic here: What engine combo are you running to get 343 Horsepower out of a 305? Those engines aren't exactly known for their power output.

Re: Rice or Muscle

Also there is a big difference between a Tuner Car and a Ricer Car.

Tuner Cars are usually very well done while other have already said what the a typical Ricer looks like.
