Impact wrenches

Anyone have any suggestions or experience on impact wrenches? I am looking at cordless or corded models, not air driven models. I don't have an air compressor large enough for an air driven model (plus I have my Dad's old air one if I get a larger compressor someday). Saw a couple of models at Coastal Tool, but not really sure what to look for. TIA.

An old, and I mean old, Wards 1/2" electric works for me. Gets most thing loose, but doesn't have enough power to damage wheel lugs on vehicles. I also have a 3/8" air powered which probably isn't quite as powerful as the electric one.

The nicest impact I have ever used was a Snap On cordless 3/8" drive. A friend loaned it to me to assemble a boat lift so I didn't electrocute myself around the water. That tool worked so good, I almost bought one just so I could own one.
If it is still available and you can spare the money, it would be worth looking at.

Not sure if I want to go cordless or not. After trying to install a deadbolt in a metal clad door, I like having the extra power of a corded model. Snap-On does make good stuff though. I'll have to investigate further.

Anyone else with some thoughts/experiences? I found a nice Milwaukee corded unit that I am checking out. I think the Snap-On cordless will be too much $$$. They start at around $230, not including battery, charger, or case.

I have a small air compressor (2 gallon), no room in the garage for a nice 26-30 gallon compressor right now. I can barely walk all the way around the car. I looked at Sears last night and found a nice Craftsman for $160, works off AC or DC. Plus, I have a Sears gift certificate from Christmas still. I'd love and air compressor, but the ones I have been looking at (size, etc.) are about $200-300, plus I don't know if my Dad's old air impact wrench still works.

If your just using it from time to time you could pick up one from Harbor Freight cheap . I bought an electric 1/2 drive years ago , it cost around $50-60 with sockets. Works fine , I use it for taking tires off my cars and trucks.
