I'm sick of all the FREAKIN' acronyms

Sometimes, I just feel like being "1337" and not having to use full words. I tell ya, IME, RMG+CMW+OCW=ROXORS. ZPC is fine, but FPII followed with 106FF is outstanding, IMHO. :grinno: :nana:

Well today I tried some AIO + RMG + 2xDP MW, and then IG on the glass and AA TF in the wells and on the tires + Meg's HE on the tires as well. 303 AP on trim and rubber seals, mudguards got the AA

AW on the wheels

Tomorrow a wipedown with ONR QD and then 2 passes of AW on paint and I will be trying it on the glass too!

:2thumbs:

You know, some of us not only are busy and have limited time, but some don't touch type and it really might take them a lot longer to type out a full name rather than an acronym, not to mention some of us who have repetitive-motion ailments and don't want to have to type excessive characters. As Spilchy noted, the use of acronyms here and elsewhere also improves/speeds reading comprehension and communication speed once you know what the acronyms are.

IIRC, it's not that hard to type "If I recall correctly"

Come on guys, you're reading a website about washing cars. And that's cool if that's what you're into, but don't try and convince me that you're too busy to type the word "Microfiber"

Don't try and convince me you're too busy to look up acronyms. ;)

After you've been here a while, you'll know the acronyms by heart. I went through the same thing and instead of trying to change the behavior of everyone else here, I learned what they meant when they used acronyms.

How long did it take to write the original post? If you didn't know any of them, you had to have looked them up. So, if you don't know what a particular acronym stands for, LOOK IT UP! Just like how you looked them up in the first place.

I'm still a noob here and, actually I'm getting sick of typing out Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds concentrated Car Wash, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, well, get the idea...

You are assuming they can spell microfiber.

I tend to ignore much of the content of posts with scores of acromyms. Those guys seem more interested in the process, not results.

By the way, most of the photography on this site is not good enough to reveal if a detail was done correctly. If I'm going to show off 10 -20 hours of hard work, I will spend more than $125 on a camera and more than 10 minutes learning how to use it.

Come on, I think you guys are taking this way too seriously. At least he has a sense of humor. I think he was just trying to be funny about all this, hence the reason why he made a little story using all those acronyms.

I think you're right about that! Of course, being a little more "diplomatic" when stating your opinion goes a long way (something I often fail to do. . .:o ).

I appreciate the effort that the folks make in posting their processes and pictures on this site. Some of our members are financially strapped and can not afford the car, detailing equipment and a good camera. Others like myself are Brownie Instamatic veterans who think a camera should take a good picture because you point it in the right direction. Considering that only a minority of the members post pictures, I hate to see any of them discouraged from doing so.

I guess I'm one of the more egregious offenders when it comes to acronyms, and I further suppose that my phonetically rendered "gotta"s/"gonna"s/"oughta"s/etc. are offensive to some people. Sorry, but I do my posts the way I wanna do 'em and if somebody wants to ignore them because of such stuff that's their choice; with any luck some people will struggle through the deciphering and find something useful. Trying to do my posts in a way that doesn't come naturally to me wouldn't be (as) enjoyable, and if it's not enjoyable I'm not gonna be too inclinded to do it. You get what you pay for ;)

I sincerely hope the above didn't sound all :grrr or anything, when I'm ticked off or feeling defensive I come across a lot worse than that :o

Oh, and when it comes to pictures, I'm finding it harder than I'd expected to capture stuff that seems pretty obvious in person. I'm no newbie to photography, but it's simply *not* that easy, even with good equipment and a lot of time. Rather than bash people whose pics don't measure up, I'll just say that some other people's ability to capture marring/LastStepProduct (sheesh, that was a pain to type out!) effects and so on is very impressive.

This thread spun out of control pretty quickly. In the interest of quenching potential flames, and because this thread has nothing to do with making paint shiny, I'm closing it.
