I'm really liking this NXT wash (sans the smell)

I went on a limb and I bought some NXT wash even though I don't think their wax is "GREAT!" while I was buying an oil filter.

The smell leaves something to be desired still. I really don't like it and if I had a larger car I probably wouldn't be able to use it because it's way to strong and my hand started to itch. I'm somewhat sensitive to these things. Nothing major, just irritating.

Maybe if it wasn't as potent. I wish it smelled more clinical. My friend said it smelled like the Clorox Berry Wipes. She made a bad face when she smelled it and we were both kind of thinking it wouldn't be so bad if when you dilute it in water that it diminished. This is a long paragraph just on smell but it really is borderline of me buying it again and not.

It suds like whoa, that's for sure. And stays sudsy. Do I think this affects how it cleans? No--not after using QEW. Suds are a gimmick. But if you care about suds--eh NXT wash has it.

It lubricates very well. My paint wasn't that dirty but I could tell this wasn't you everyday wash.

It doesn't streak whatsoever and this was only a problem because I forgot to clean the wheels and I went back and then rinsed the paint off. It really didn't matter, it just rinsed off, then without the nozzle there was good sheeting action. I didn't apply anything after and nothing to the wheels, I figured it would rain.

And it did. It seemed to improve the beading on the paint and more noticeably on the windows. For the few hours before it wasn't raining their "anti static" claim seems to be good--the paint didn't have any dust on it.

Note: It's very thick and a little bit goes a very long way. It may be too thick, time will tell. It could be a little thinner for my liking.

Will I buy it again? If something is done with the smell. I really don't know. It seems nitpicky but this is a hobby for me and I enjoy it, it really takes the relaxing qualities of washing my car out of it. I don't wash the car because it's dirty, I wash it because I really do like taking care of cars. It's therapy for me. I don't know, it makes me happy, and the smell makes me not so happy. :(

Meguiars has expectations for their product. It's very good and they should let the product prove itself. Not the smell.

I may just buy some QEW and use that even if I do a normal bucket wash method. It has zero smell. And it works well, and it's great to have around when you can't use a hose. (I only like the hose to rinse the wheel wells--in the spring/winter this is more of an issue then in the summer).

Anyway, I hope this is informative.

I don't mind the smell. Maybe years of being around detailing products has dulled me sense of smell.

I agree that the NXT wash is pretty good and gives some of the best sheeting action I have seen.

I don't know--other car products don't bother me. Paint thinner and the typical body shop smell doesn't bother me. It's just the perfumey smells. :nixweiss

I just noticed I posted a really good review on another board so anybody from there: I put higher scrutiny on a product for Autopians because, well, they like it.

Overall NXT Wash is great, it's just the smell that bothers me and that's probably a 1 in 1,000 people type of deal.

NXT Wash has a smell? J/K. I have smelled it, but it is not a strong smell to me. I kinda like it.

Corey, do you wash outside, or in a confining garage? I wash outside, so that may be why any smell doesn't seem strong to me.

NXT Wash is a very good wash, especially for the price. It does sheet very well, which is of major importance in Louisiana's summers. I've also found that it cleans well, but in my circumstances my car is never really dirty. It has easily removed tar and bugs from my car with NXT Wax on it. I don't know if this should be attributed to the wax or wash. Actually, most tar and bugs come off with a strong spray from the hose, so it may be the wax. The "residues" left behind are easily removed with the wash without any pressure at all.

I also like the lubricity of it. Next time I wash my wife's truck, I may try to use it like QEW just for kicks. Any suggestions on procedure for this? Or am I going to be doing something stupid? Any input is welcome.
