Hi, my name is Matt im from vancouver island BC, and i own a 99 red metalic mustang.

Ill be honest, i posted almost this same thread on another forum and i was honestly quite unimpressed by the community, while i received a few good well thought out answers i was looking for it still left some blatant holes in my plan and after not recieving any info i decided to just go ahead and order what i was planning. Then i found this forum where i HOPE to be relieved that the products i have chosen will work well for my job.

My mustang has a few scratches on it, the scratches apear to be through the red and into something that is white. My goal is to fix these white scratches, and remove swirls and paint fading and water spots off of my car that has probably never had this done to it before.

I have just purchased:

PC7424xp

megs 105/205

menzerna power lock

3 orange 2 black and 2 red ccs 5.5" pads

1 lambswool pad + bonnets

some cobra mf towels

wolfgang clay bar+ lube

and lastly some pinnacle souveran paste wax

Ill post a few pictures of the scratches and spots im most worried about, If anyone would be kind enough to help me figure out what exactly has happened in each of these pictures in terms of paint damage and correction process i would be most grateful

Thanks again,

The golden rule is if your fingernail catches in those scratches, they are too deep to remove. Some certainly look past the point of no return. As far as correction, there are some fantastic guides that can walk you through the process of restoring the finish. My advice is really to start small, pick and area that isn't scratched and formulate your plan for correcting the whole car from that.

I agree that those are beyond buffing only. But you can use research 'paint chip repair' here and find quite a few how-to's on how to lay in touch up, then finish so it will drastically reduce how obvious the damage is. Worth a shot and you can't hurt anything. Do it!

How about my product choices? i still have some time to change my order but time is very limited. i think my choices will do well the main thing i am now semi regretting is the wax because i found in the depths of this forum some people say that it is not good on metalic paint.

Just for your information. Any wax or sealant you apply is not on the "color" of the paint, it will be on the "clearcoat", the "color" is the base coat, under the "clear coat".

Each have their opinion regarding which "wax-sealant" provides, in their opinion. looks better.

The important thing is to keep either or any, on a non-contaminated clearcoat.

Your vehicle's finish would thank you if it could, however come trade in or sell time, one's gets more money for it.

Pinnacle is going to be somewhat of a waste of $ for that color. If it was a solid red, dark blue or black, then it would be money well spent. The wax/sealant has so little to do with the final results that you are better of getting something that protects well. Grab Collinite 915 and you'll be more than happy.
