thanks for the forum guys.

i am no pro. i am just harry homeowner that bought a pontiac G8 GT in pacific slate and drive 50k miles a year for work. i want to keep it clean. after much research, i have decided to load the stable with optimum products. i have always had company cars or light colored ones that i wasnt all that crazy about so the Turtle Wax car wash and towel from the closet was just fine.

not now. i dont want to spend an arm and a leg, but want quality.

so far i think:

ONR

OCW

Opti Seal

what else?

is their tires shine better than most? do i need the instant detailer? is that the same as a "quick detailer" for those wipe downs after a way? does opti seal not do that same thing basically? i know it seals the paint but does it not add depth and shine?

and what order do you suggest i apply "your list" for me?

obviously ONR first, then what?

thanks guys. :bow im not worthy.

That's all I would get from them personally, get your car professionally polished and then just maintain it. and 50k miles a year? Sounds like a clear bra would be a good investment too.

I personally would just get ONR and Opti-seal, and then just use the Opti-seal as a sealant every month or something, and it will last forever. It is dead easy to use. Buy a good amount of ONR, I use it as a quick detailer, clay lube, and the ONR wash.

The OID I heard is hard to use, I heard it hazes if you don't get it off completely or something. Sounds like a PITA to me. I like the ONR QD better than a lot out on the market right now, only a select few are better than it. I only use QD to get off bird crap, caked on polish, stuff like that.

BTW, this is what Opti-seal looks like on a well-polished car-

Are you planning on polishing your car? Hand or machine?

At the very least, I'd hand polish the car with Poli-Seal or Optimum Polish II and then seal with Opti-Seal.

You don't *need* the Instant Detailer since you can use ONR at QD strength, but QID does add noticable gloss and slickness. I have had no problems with it at all, just as easy to use as other QD's.

Optimum Tire Gel has a more satin "correct" look and Tire Shine has more gloss.

Like Darkstar said, just your professionaly polished and have a clear bra installed on your hood and front bumper. As many miles as you drive, it will protect your investment. I only wish that I had known about clear bras when I bought my wife's Acura. I now have to get both the hood and bumper repainted because of severe road rash. Try to find a place that will offer both services at the same location.

As far as products go, I would get ONR, Opti-Seal and Optimum Metal polish for your exhaust tips and other parts which require polishing. I would also think about getting their car wax and maybe apply it whenever you think it may need it. Their wax is pretty awesome. It's super easy to use and leaves an incredible shine.

Another thing you might consider is to learn how to wash your car properly. That will save you alot of aggrevation.

Good luck to you and post some pics of your ride when you can.

You need ONR. OCW will be great as a quick booster after a wash once every month or 2.

Optimum polishes work great by rotary, but take forever to break down by PC.

thanks guys.

everything will be done with hand, so is poli seal ok to use that way? i read where i should use it after ONR then poli seal (to help with some swirls, no?) then OCW then Opti Seal.

that sound about right?

can i do poli seal by hand? instead of getting it professionally polished?

Directions for use:

Hand Application Apply to a small area with a dampened foam or cloth applicator. After slight hazing occurs, wipe-off with a microfiber or terry towel for a perfect shine. Machine Application Apply with orbital or rotary polisher and appropriate pad for the job. Apply just enough product to create a lubricating barrier between the buffing pad and the surface. Work across the area until product disappears. (We suggest 1000-1400 rpms for rotary polishers). Wipe with a lightly misted cotton towel for a steak-free, perfect finish. For more serious surface imperfections, use Optimum Polish or Optimum Compound prior to Poli-Seal.

in anycase, invest in a PC - it will be one of the best investments you'll ever make and you'll wonder why you didn't buy one sooner... :waxing:

Not sure who you heard it from, but it's not. It's the easiest thing I've ever put on a car.

Get Poli-Seal use adamp applicator section at a time very easy to use and remove. Use Poli-seal three times a year or four.

Opti-Seal

ONR

these three products is what you need

no O car wax?

I wouldnt put the OCW under the Optiseal. It may not bond correctly. (depending on how long you wait) I think you will find that most guys use the OCW after an ONR wash when the vehicle doesnt need a polish. The OCW will help prolong the life of the OS and and maybe give some added depth.

But also, in my use of UPGP (a very similar product to OS) it has replaced my DGAW (similar to OCW) as a post wash wax (sealant). Because you dont have to buff it off, its faster than a spray wax.

But you will probably get a dozen different answers.
