I'm Back - Still at it!

After an extended time away due to family crisis, I'm back at it again. It's good to see some of the old timers still here. In case no one remembers, I'm the guy who fixed up his son's tired Black '93 Prelude. Well, latest project is a complete repaint of the Lude, straight black this time. Stripping it to bare metal and wet sanding the whole thing as we go, removing all emblems and filling antenna hole, trunk keyhole, etc. Just lowed the Lude 2" and raised my red CRV 2". Also got rid of my '98 Jeep Cherokee (red) that I had wet sanded. I'm also now in the process of bringing 2 (red and silver) Honda CRV's back to life, both appearance and mechanical wise. I'm so glad to be back!

Hey its Dan! Welcome back "old timer" (on the forums anyways)!! Glad to see you're still at work.... and atleast you still have the vette! Lookin forward to hearing from you again with more great advice and tips.

Thanks for the warm welcome. As you may remember, I retired about 3 years ago after running a computer business for 18 years. The best tip I can give anyone is not to retire early, after 3 years I was going nuts and running out of projects. I am now in a new career with a garage door manufacturer and having the most fun I've ever had on a job. In the meantime, here's a quick look at my "twin projects". Silver is for my daughter (turns 16 in Sept) and the red is, naturally, mine. You might notice the lack of effort on my part taking care of the grass in the driveway....I'd trade the whole yard for a year's worth of Zaino or rubbing compound and wet or dry sandpaper. Gotta have your priorities straight!!

I couldn't resist a quick front wheel shot of my red CRV. These are the stock wheels that fell victim to my paint gun while I was working on the Prelude repaint. Yes, you are right....this shot was when I had the wheels on the silver CRV, before I found my red one (I knew the sharp-eyed detailers here would notice!)

Good to see you back Dan. :up

The repaint of the Lude sounds interesting, perhaps making another thread of it? ;)

Glad to have you back. It was a pleasure reading your posts. You BETTER have pics while you are working on the 'Lude:xyxthumbs .

I hope I'm in the right area with this, but here goes....a little progross report on the Lude, Part Deux -

No more emblems, no more truck key hole (note that I'm falling a bit behind with the wet sanding and buffing on the bumper)

I can hear your neighbors now, "see! I told ya you were gonna rub the paint right off that thing!!" :p

That's it, I'm done for today. Got the side metal-etched, masked and primed. Planning on a coat of surface primer tomorrow night. Just a bit warm today for any more.
