awesome job on all the cars for sure.. just curious? I see that you used menzerna FPII on speed 6 with your orbital..I have these polishes and I have used intense polish with my orange pad and my FPII with a finishing white pad. Have you ever finished with a intense polish? Im curious to see how that would work. Like maybe polishing with a finishing pad with my intense polish?

I would say that it all depends on the paint. If you are working via rotary, then the IP would reduce the clarity of the finish via PC (IMO). If you are working via PC on hammered black paint, sure you could finish with IP, because *anything* that you do the paint will increase gloss/depth. That same black paint could still benefit from an application of FPII, but it all depends on the eye of the person viewing the paint as to whether or not there is a difference.

Was there a reason why you used different products or were you just simply using products you already had and trying to use up? I noticed you used 3 different tire dressings on all 3 cars.



Also, I tried using a steam cleaner on the interior for the first time yesterday but I wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly or not. Would it be better to wipe down with an APC first, and then use the steamer or vice versa? In my process I used the steamer first because I figured any dripping I get from the steamer I would end up cleaning along with picking up any extra grime when wiping down with the APC. Would the dripping issue from the steamer not matter once you wipe down with an interior dressing?

I find that different rubber compounds vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. What looks great on a michelin, might not look so great on a firestone--I adjust accordingly. Also, the reason for the foam on the Hummer is because of the tread blocks on the side--you almost have to use a foam/aerosol in order to get between the blocks.



I spray the panel with APC 10:1, then steam the crevices, wipe dowm with MF, inspect, repeat if needed. Then, while I doing my final vacuum of the carpets I go over the panels with a dusting attachment--this will remove any water that is standing in the crevice. If you keep the steamer moving, then there is less chance that the steam will build up to the point of becoming water (hence dry steaming). After that, I dress the panel.

I am trying to figure out the correct process with the new OHC--this was my first use. I had a few issues, but I feel confident that it is user error. I am going to wait until I have done a few cars before I decide exactly what I think about it. It definitely cuts more and finishes better than the original formula, but I need to figure out what I am doing wrong.
 
I did a white Hummer this year and was totally wiped out afterwards.. I just kept saying that I was so lucky it wasn't black. And for you to have both those HUGE vehicles BLACK... WOW. I'm impressed not only by the results but by your physical stamina!!!!!
 
Impressive results on all those vehicles :xyxthumbs . Try a finishing pad and OP with the rotary next time @ 1200 rpms and see what you think. I'm finding it is far superior to the PC.

Pressure wash, spray degreaser (4:1), agitate, PW, blow dry, dress, start motor, shut hood, after the detail raise the hood and wipe out dust/even out dressing.

The wheel wells on that Hummer are unbelievable!! How do you clean them (process/product) before applying the dressing?

I clean with degreaser, scrub with a tampico brush, pressure wash, then dress.
