If Jesus was a compound... Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - Premium Custom Detailing

Yes, it is VERY pricey, another reason I wasn't totaly in love with it. I don't think they even had gallons on the site I found it on.

I have the link saved at home, but there is an Italian site that sells it to the US. Just email them and they will ship some to the US. I think it ends up costing $60 USD plus whatever shipping is to you.

They are out and so is Meguiars.

I cleaned out my source. Maybe yours is different.

Could be, I have the link at home, I'll post it tonight. Could also be there was a break down in communication since there is a bit of a language barrier. All I know if I paid for two more bottles on top of the 8oz sample I was given. Most of it I'm going to sample out to people. I'm not it love with the product, but I do intend on doing more testing with it.

I'm not in love with the smell of M101....I think Megs should make it smell like D301.

LOL Rasky, that would be nice. I think D301 is my favorite smelling product on the market!

Agreed! Makes me think of homemade blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup!

I sniff it every-time it walk in the shop! :dizzy:

Played around with it a little on Monday...

How did you like it Chad?

Can't really give much of an opinion right now....I Only had time to do the one test section on one of my sheet pans. Sanded panel smooth with 1500 and then tried removing the scratches with a 5" Cyan LC on the rotary. Both M101 and M105 were able to remove the scratches in one buffing cycle, but the paint on my test panel was still pretty fresh and very soft (could sink a finger nail in with some pressure). M101 dusted less, felt a little smoother, looked about the same, maybe a slight edge going to M01, but the difference was not huge on this soft paint.

My other set of sheet pans has a different clear on them and I'll see if the paint is harder on those this weekend.

I like 105 most of the time, the dusting is not as bad as some stuff I tried in the past. I usually add a dab of D300 to reduce the dust and add a little more working time. One thing I'm seeing is ya'll testing after wet sanding, I'd like to see what it would do on 10+ year old GM paint with water etching that would rival ingraving at the county fair. OK, as you scratch your heads and wonder what the old Bug has been smokin - I did a 2002 Tahoe last week, AFTER wash, clay, wash, buff, buff, buff - yep 3x with M105, MF pads, I removed the oxidation, swirls, and was left with pretty, glossy, paint with etching so deep it was almost art. Who knew? The old paint layer covered it up!

Talked to the owner and she didn't "see" the problem, well, it would have been pointless to go crazy on 10 year paint on a daily driver. At least they understand and want me to maintain their new car!

Some real world testing is always nice but I like to use wet sanding simply because you're able to more accurately gauge the depth of the defects, or sanding scratches on this case. It's hard to look at swirls, scratches or etching and say; "well, I think those are about as bad as 1000 grit sanding marks". ;)

His name would be M101.

My good friend Charlie Hahn was so gracious to send me a bit of his private stash of Meguiars M101 Foam-Cut Compound. This product was developed in Europe for their paint types and buffing styles. It is NOT available here in the US...

As soon as I put the pad to the paint I could tell I was working with a monster.

This compound not only cuts faster and deeper than M105, but dusts less and finishes better. Believe it or not!

I put together a Meguiars Compound Shootout on the Corvette I just finished (video soon to come) in this video that shows a direct comparison between Meguiars D300, M105v1, M105 current version, and the best thing since sliced bread... M101 aka Pimp Juice.

I am SOOOOOOO spoiled now. I know that there is a better compound out there and I cant buy it on a regular basis... Its just not fair!

Meguiars, if you're listening, please consider bringing this to market here in the US!

Thanks for watching!

Nice vid, why did you run the M101 on an MF pad if it is designed to work with a foam pad? Undoubtedly it corrected better than the rest, but wouldn't pad selection have possibly helped both 101 and 105 perform better too? (IE a foam wool as opposed to the MF for 105s).

No real reason. I had just been using them that day and thought it would be a good test.

I will be testing it with foam pads as well.

I think Megs not importing this product to the USA has more to do with import health restrictions than "European aftermarket paint" differences, but I could be wrong

MSDS - http://www.meguiars.com/content/en/msds/M101.pdf (see also label on M101)CharlesH could you post a photo of the label THKS

Interesting point Jon. It contains (tiny amounts of) NAPHTHALENE which is a known carcinogen. Would that have implications in the US?

Dont want to dis the product, but NAPHTHALENE looks like nasty stuff.

Naphthalene

Be sure you use protective gear when using any products that contain it!

Come on Ben. Ive never heard of anyone dying from over exposure to mothballs. LOL

I didn't care for the smell. It reminded me of a cleaning solvent in a re-build shop. If this was ever put into my frequent use catagory I think a mask would be in order.
