So the other day I went to wash a truck and a few fleet vehicles for one of my weekly customers and i couldnt believe what I saw. First the pics of one of the trucks, the others are just fleet trucks so no big deal, this one is his personal truck. Then the picture of the idiot of the month.



wash with auto magic wash and wax and lambs wool

dry with WW

dress tires with auto magic magic dressing

windows with auto magic window cleaner

interior was vaccumed and dressed but no pics

Now I have to give him a little bit of credit since he is using the two bucket method but if you look closely he is MOPPING his car. Yes that is a mop in his hands. I didnt know what to do other than take a picture. I was going to talk to him but like I said, I didnt know what I would have said. I probably should have taken the mop and beat him with it. Oh well, enjoy.
 
The two buckets are a bit confusing... Maybe he is an Autopian and the mop has a lambswool head :D



Edit: Or maybe it's the new washing tool: The ShMop :grinno:
 
Maybe he doesn't know any better and you're the idiot for not giving the guy some helpful suggestions...



F350 looks good. Lots of paint to detail on those rigs.
 
Ha... I saw almost exactly the same thing the other day, I went for an inspection and one of the mechanics was washing a car with push broom!
 
Are you sure it’s a janitorial wash mop?



In college [where I did a majority of my auto detailing], we used chenille wash mops on 5FT extensions for large jobs - boats and RVs. No climbing, no strain. Chenille mops are identical to chenille wash mitts . . . neither will scratch fiberglass or paint.

Oh im sure, he was right across from me and i walked by after he was done and the buckets were still out there with the mop and it wasnt a chenille mop.

If you guys think Shmopping is bad, someone cleaned the snow off two of our fleet vehicles with a god damn shovel.
 
98% of motorists don't know about Autopia. You would be surprised this kind of practice is pretty common! Most people think bath towels are perfectly fine for drying! And a dishwashing sponge to wash!



If you mentioned Sheepskin mitts and MF towels they would think you're ridiculous, after all its JUST a car...:rolleyes:

Very true..I was at the gas station the other day and seen an older gentleman maybe around 60 and he had a brand new black Lexus SC. He just got done going through the car wash and pulled it up front to dry it off with bath towels. I give the guy credit for at least trying to take care of his investment....to 99% of the population this guy is going overboard and might see him as a perfectionist (haha) by even using the bath towels and think he should just let it air dry down the road.



Most people just dont know the good and bad of taking care of their vehicles and what is proper. But to me seeing the older gentlemen inside the gas station he was very professional, kind, and just wanted to make his car look nice. Gotta at least give him kudos for trying!



The guy with the mop...that is a different story haha :)
