I Want To Try Out Some Serious Cutting Pads. Recommendations?

I'm used to using the Surfbuff and Meguiar's burgundy pad on my G110. They do the job but I'd like to maybe try out some Lake Country Pads. I want to start using 4" pads exclusively for my cutting. What pads are out there that cut hard as hell (with M105) that you can recommend?

If you want to use 4" pads exclusively, why not use the Surfbuff pads?

get a rotary and wool pads...faster work than a 4"

I actually will do this.

---------------------------------

Surbuff pads are high maintenance. Their hairs get matted down very fast and need to be fluffed constantly.

I'm just looking for a new cutting pad.

Any pad (orange/surbuf) that you use with M105 should be cleaned after every few sections. Brush and blow away excess with compressed air.

I use 4" orange with M105 for spot correction in tight areas (front/rear bumpers) and around door handles. Also nice for small areas that are wetsanded.

But no way I am going to compound an entire car with a 4" pad, so I use 7" surbuf.

i remember david recommended me to use 4000 grit instead of claying a car one time....Ill see if I can find the picture, in fact, I just did a car recently in WORSE condition...

^^^ This. I have yet to try mine out, but supposedly, they cut more than orange and finish down better while keeping temperatures down.

Ive got high hopes for the 4" PFW

the 3.5"/4" PFW pads work well by PC, even on hard clear, but I dunno if they're as aggressive as a 4" SurBuf and I'd suspect not  Doing some spot-correction on the M3 with 3.5" PFW/M105/PC took a while.

The Edge/Cyclo brand 4" yellow wool pads can do some aggressive work and are an OK match with M105 (not so good with many other products though).

But this all sounds to me like a case of trying to do rotary work via PC. When you need a rocks-in-a-bottle compound via rotary, then that's simply what you need.

But IMO you can usually get around that by doing *VERY* gentle wetsanding and then using something like M105 via PC.

Hope people contemplating "how do I get more aggressive than SurBufs/M105?" know what they're doing...sounds like a recipe for trouble to me. Getting close to a case of "if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't try it".

I'd have to agree with Accumulator.

What are you trying to do where you need to get more aggressive than Surbufs and M105?

To answer your question though, a rotary, wool cutting pad, and some M105 will do some very fast cutting. Only time I really need this though is for removing wet sanding marks.

When doing client's cars I always tape off all edges so clearcoat safety is well known to me. My problem with Surbuf pads is how quickly they gunk up. After every 1'x1' section with a dime size of M105 I have to clean them. I just want a faster way of removing swirls. It's been very hard to get a swirl free finish with my G110 and maroon Meguairs cutting pads on a lot of cars.

For the most aggresive cutting, use a 4 ply wool pad with a heavy compounds such as 3M extra cut, Megs 105, Menzerna POS100, Scholl S2 and Mark V mv 350.
