I want it all Depth, reflection, wet, shiny and durability

Anything but Boring....
In the next week or so when time permits I will be stripping my 94 black impala. I currently use Zaino which gives a very, very reflective shine. I want to enhance the shine with deepness, wetness, etc. I'm a newbie to the site and have been studying you guys for the past couple weeks. I have done the research, however, I wanted to start my own post to put it all together.

The car has minor Swirls not really noticable but I will eliminate.

Here is my MAIN product and tool list.

Pc 7424 with 6" velcro plate and weight
LC 7.5 Variable contact Pads 1 Orange and 1 white
PoorBoys ssr1 and ssr2.5
3M light cut compound
3m SMR dark
PoorBoys PP
PoorBoys EX-P
Nattys
Klasse AIO
Zaino z-1, Z-2, z-5 and z-6
NXT paste wax

Too much to list...
 
Sounds like you have most of the tools needed. What do you think your process will be when you hit it this next time?
 
On my Mustang I get a pretty nice result with the following!

Clay, SSR 2.5 , SSR 1, Pro Polsh, EX-P x3, Nattys X 4
I don't have any pictures yet as im not done just yet.. plus i just got my camera back!
 
My process will begin with the fundamentals...

Wash
Wash and Clay
I guess start with the ssr2.5 using LC 7.5 Orange pad at speed 4.5
Come behind it with ssr1 at 5.5 or so
Clean up my mess with AIO OR PPP

I need you guys for the rest... hahhaaha
 
Alrighty then Focused on sound.. With Ziano I layerd 5 coats and Z6 in between each coat. The Zaino LASTS a really really long time. My question is does the layering of natty's and Ex-p do the same. I mean does the layering enhance the appearance and durability..

I guess what I'm saying is that when I Zaino a good 5 layers I know I won't have to do much else to maintain the shine. Just wash and Z6 if I'm in the mood. Water pops of finish.

I don't want to contradict my self here. So what I'm saying is that I want the shine and durability that zaino offers but I also want that deeeeeeeep and wet look as well.

MY BAD MISREAD YOUR POST BUT I'LLE LEAVE MY POST ANYWAYS

I myself own a 95 black cherry ss, I've wetsanded with 2000 then hit it again with 3000, Come back over with HT-357 at about 2000 rpm "wool cut pad" ,Then polish it with bc-2 at 1500rpm "wool polish pad", then hit it with swirl remover at about 1200 rpm "foam polish pad" , Then a final coat of banana magic by hand. All Products From AUTOMAGIC.

You do your car like this and in My opinion you'll get just want your looking for. Others here will give you options too.
 
You have some great tools and products already, that's great! I will throw this out and suggest trying PB EX on your black finish, instead of the ex-p. The EX, I feel, works best on darker paints. I just love it on my black Chevy Silverado. It has provided great durability and lasting protection. I sometimes also top it with a carnuba cream or paste wax (your favorite here) and that really makes it pop.

I can't imagine how long that must all take? I took me about 4 hours to wash, dry with shop vac, ssr1, #7, EX, interior and rims/tires. And I was about to die I thought.

Mike of course you would suggest buying more products. JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD ENOUGH! You guys are going to bankrupt me..... :headbang :headbang

Ok now what else could I use in place of the ex listed on the product list.
 
Oh trust me...you'll be buying a LOT more products than you have right now. I think the UPS guy may as well camp out here at my place since he comes every day anyways!

The EX-P will work just fine as a very good sealant on your paint. Myself and some others just fell the EX is best on black especially. Natty's, from what I hear, is also a great wax. It also has Carnuba which should give you a great wet look along with some good protection. Try topping the EX-P with Nattys and see how it looks. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed! :mohawk

I've got Poorboy's EX on my 94 SS right now. I am loving it. I love the looks and as far as durability, it's been hanging in there for quite a while for me. I just did my mom's LX470 with SSR2.5 (x2) AIO --->EX---> Souveran, and it is by far the best the truck has ever looked. Once I get some time to get the pics off the camera, I'll post them (if any of them came out ok). I've topped EX with natty's on my SS as well, and it looked awesome. The only problem I have had with Natty's at all is that everytime I apply it, it rains the next day. :ranton

If you want to use Zaino, I would defniitely suggest using Pro Polish first. A lot of people use AIO as a base, but I like the idea of Pro Polish for Zaino as it leaves nothing behind. I use Zaino on the roof of my mom's truck, because that's what needs the most durability, as it is even hard to reach for me (and I'm 6'3).

I thought Zaino was the be end all product out there after reading the Impala forum for the last 5 years or so. Then NXT hit the market, and I liked it as much and it was available locally.....Then I found this forum, and I'm hooked on Poorboys products now. I've sunk a ton of money into product since finding this forum and no matter what combo I use, there is always atleast one Poorboys product in it.

EDIT: With what you have, I would probably go with SSR's first. If you want to use EX-P, after the SSR's is your time. I would definitely top EX-P with Natty's. If you want to use the Z, then hit the PP and then Z. If I were doing it, I would get as much Zaino as I wanted down, and then top with Natty's just for kicks. Topping Z means you cant layer anymore and have to start all over, but hey...You wouldn't be here if you didnt like starting the process over again.
 
Yeah way2slow I think i will try the Poorboys polish followed by 5 coats Zaino and fingers will be crossed with the nattty topper... Since I last posted I have purchased some EX. Now I guess someone will chime in and tell me to get souveran.

Souveran is the Miggity miggity mac dude. It's definitely not necessary, but I just picked some up a little while back. I've used Zaino after Pro Polish on black before, and I have had good results. Post up some pics....I love seeing pics of other Impalas.
 
I also believe that EX is a better choice for a black car, leave a wetter, deeper look than Ex-P. Another good one for black is CMW, I've used both, the EX is a little deeper, the CMW a little wetter. Both were over VM and topper with Souveran. I'm sure you'll love either of the two combo's
