Pay Attention Boy...
With the current superb offer that AG has on the Cyclo with pads, I went for it. After reading here for many moons I thought this the next best step up. Perhaps, one of these days, I'll graduate to the rotary but I think this will keep me going for a few years. I look forward to its arrival. I do need to cut the work times down, both with better organization on my part, and better equipment. I do hope that this will fill the bill as far as the equipment goes. Wish me well.....and ALL suggestions will be taken to heart.

I just bought a Hitachi rotary this morning - one of the last Coastal Tool offered for $99.

You have larger stones than I! Congratulations on your purchase and I hope it does well for you.
 
Congratulations!! May I offer just one suggestion for when you graduate to the rotary? You could go to a junk yard and buy a car hood or some other part with decent paint to practice your rotary skills on. :)
 
Should that day come I will indeed use practice panels, thanks. With the PC and Cyclo I should be able to cover 99% of any problems encountered.

I think you'll be impressed with the feel and smooth operation.

Oh come on it not that hard.

Use foam pads and low speeds for starters, light pressure and watch the heat, and anyone can use a rotary..

As a matter of fact, yes I am. I use it as a last step product or a one step depending on the finish of the car and the money involved.

Having used a rotary long before using a PC (30+ years), it can be a difficult machine to master. I have seen people leave burn marks, swirls holograms, etc. in their paintand even buff through to the primer. If the possibility is there to practice on something other than your prized vehicle, it is well worth it to gain some experience.
 
Sorry, I've been ill so this morning was the first chance I've had to try the Cyclo. I'm not back to 100% yet but I just couldn't stand it!

I can now understand why years ago a seasoned detailer told me to skip the PC and get the Cyclo. My time using it was brief but what a marvelous machine.......extremely well balanced, no vibration, and did the area ( a trunk lid) in 1/2 the time (or less) than it would have taken with the PC. I did find it a quieter machine also.

Obviously this is no news to those that own one but if any of you are "on the fence" then go for it.

No massive review here. After all, I did an easy horizontal surface but I can certainly see where this will be the tool of choice for most jobs in the future. As soon as I'm back up to full steam I'll give it the full workout.
 
Now that's what I'm talking 'bout. Good first start.

From what I've heard from people who've used both a PC and a Cyclo, the Cyclo IS harder to use in corners, curves, and tight spaces. Perhaps the use of a MF would be in order for those cramped or uncertain areas.

That makes sense......I can see where both will have an advantage/disadvantage in certain situations and areas.
