I started using ICE

You guys are going to laugh at me. I have an 08 Jeep wrangler in addition to my firebird. It is an X model and has a lot of black plastic. I started using ICE Liquid Polish on it as my LSP with the ICE spray detailer after washes. I know the ICE stuff gets trashed alot but I hate getting white residue on black plastic. The ICE stuff I actually can use on the plastic with no problems. Anyway, I wanted to get some opinions on ICE. I know it may not look quite as good as some of the other LSPs but it looks good on my Jeep. Do you think it offers enough protection?

I won't laugh at you. My dad bought some this weekend, and while my first impression was that he should have went with NXT, I saw him apply it and saw the results this weekend. I must say, it is extremely easy to apply, it did wonders for black trim and plastic, and it had a nice shine to it. He was very happy about it, and really liked the look. I don't know how long the "protection" would last, but then again I can't measure "protection" from a bottle of anything I buy off the internet either. I say use what works for you, even if it is TW ICE.

I also wouldn't really get worried about some of the "product snobs" on the internet. I bet the majority of folks who will talk down to you about using ICE or NXT or anything else off the shelf most likely has not used the product they are bashing.

I found the detail spray on clearance at BJ's...2 bottles for $6.90...with a MF ! Bought 2 packs...not bad...not fabulous, but not too bad...does leave a very nice shine. Funny thing is...it feels funny as you wipe it...it doesn't feel slick like QS, but does leave a decent finish. Definitely NOT worth $9.95 a bottle, but for under $4...OK stuff.

91black5spd, Looks like your more in a postion to give your opinion than to need one. Sounds like you like it. And as JaredP has stated that's what matters. As far as amount/duration of protection you can monitor and let us know how long it works for you. How long a product protects is pretty specific to the end user's vehicle condition and environmental conditions.

Larry A, I bought that product a while back on closeout, so I suspect it may be discontinued. Oddly enough, though I like it, my experience mirrors unlcearty's with the ICE detailer product; it didn't provide a real slick finish.

I've used the Ice Paste. Not thrilled with it. Didn't buff off cleanly. Wasn't overly amazed with the final results. Didn't leave white residue, though, so for someone that isn't careful around trim, this may be something to look at.

I've also heard that the QD is pretty decent. Haven't tried it, though.

I keep a jar of ICE paste in my trailer at all times. I like the way it looks on trim. I don't use it every day, but I do reach for it occasionally.

Since you have been using it since last fall, Link, it seems like you should be the resident expert on the product.
If it has met your expectations for the past 3+ months, that's really all that matters.
The key is in your statement, "It looks good on my Jeep". There's the only opinion that's important. :)

I had only been using it on trim on my mustang back then. It seemed to hold up well on the stang trim, but there really was only a small amount of trim. Now with the jeep I got, I started using it on the paint as well, so that I don't have to use 2 products. Since my Jeep is my DD and I keep it outside I need to wash and wax frequently so ease of use is important. And your right, I like the way it looks, so I think I will stick with it. I will let you guys know how it holds up on paint.

I just wanted to post an update on the ICE wax. In the end I stopped using it. When I was using it occasionally it was ok. Once I started using it regularly on my jeep it started making the black plastic fenders look hazy. The reason that I think it was the ICE is that my brother also bought a jeep wrangler the same month that I did. He also keeps it outside and in similar sun exposure. He does not use ICE and his fenders definately look better than mine.

The ice quick detailer rocks dude. Its hard to beat soem of the Megs stuff-polish/NXT liq wax rocks but the guys on this forum got me to start looking into other chemicals and I decided to try DG- Duragloss and it rocks too- so far its apples and oranges but only time will tell. But still use and will continue to use the ICE Quik Detailer- it just does what I need it to do and always exceeds my expectations- but I don't use it on trim.
