I passed...

Well, this should be my last update for a long time.

I passed my final test (for now) - the Series 65. I can now legally call myself an investment adviser representative.

So I took the afternoon off, and I'm watching King of the Hill :p

What a grand accomplishment, congratulations. At least the move is a short distance, that makes it a little easier, eh?

thanks, guys! I'm so relieved.

Awesome job! SO what should I be investing in.....GOOGLE. APPLE, RIMM?

We don't really go with individual stocks. Our philosophy deals much more with mutual funds, etc.

Yeah, we made the move about 4 months ago. It's where we're from, so it wasn't bad at all.

Congrats, but do it right...don't just be a salesman or product pusher. Always remember that this is about peoples lives and NOT just ther money.

Get your series 7 also...it allows you to us ETFs etc.

Since most mutual fund managers and SMAs cant normally outperform the indices ...why not use ETFs ? more tax efficient, less expensive and more versatile than MFs. Many more advantages but this is not the forum for that discussion.:waxing:

Yeah, we are a small firm that focuses on the client and their needs, not making "sales."

My partner has his 7, but we really don't need it with what we do. We don't daily trade, market time, etc. We normally suggest buy-and-hold strategies with strong funds from Dimensional Fund Advisors and others. Our track record with this approach has done quite well.

Thought it would be fun to pull this thread up for a final update.

Being just over a year from beginning this thread I've passed the Series 6, 63, and 65 financial exams for my career. I got engaged in February and was married on July 12th. And we bought a house about a month ago and began remodeling. It has been quite the year...I'm exhausted (but proud and happy).

I appreciate the friendship and support I've gotten here and hope to have a little more time in the detailing world again.
