I need help with polishes! (Autopia won't help me!)

Hey guys,
I've been on Autopia for a while, and I'm having trouble getting a couple questions answered. I usually use Menzerna or Zaino products with mine and friend's cars. Could you take a look and help a newer detailing guy out??

-Is Menzerna PowerGloss too agressive when used with a yellow LC cutting pad? (PC)
-Is Menzerna Intensive Polish used with a yellow cutting pad a good combination?
-How does OHC compare with PowerGloss?
-Can OHC/PowerGloss be used with a white polishing pad?

If you can give me your opinions and ideas for detailing a BMW, that would be awesome!

I appreciate your help!

Never used OHC so have to pass on the comparison.

PG is an agressive polish. So the answer is if you need the power of PG to get a job done then it is alright to use. Just be aware that the product is ultra abrassive. I would start with a polishing(white ) pad to begin with. Rule of thumb never changes. Use the least aggressive product to get the job done.

PG should be followed by IP. Again it is pad dependant on what you want to accomplish.

If, having used the above products and accomplished what you set out to do, you will most likely have a hazed surface that needs to be cleaned up with FPll or ZPC Fusion to get the paint ready for an LSP. Again these are pad dependant. Using the rule of thumb, that I mentioned earlier, and your experience with each product, you will soon be able to judge what pad is necessary to accomplish what is needed to get the job done.

The products you plan to use are not some that I have used, but....
Use of a cutting pad and an aggressive product with a PC can result in less than desirable results.
Many people use that combination and seem to get along fine, but occasionally you will read where someone ends up with a real mess.
Whatever combination you decide on, doing just a small section to see how it is going to work would seem lke a good idea. It would not be a good thing to do the entire vehicle or even a hood or roof and then find out the combination was too aggressive.

If PG is used properly you can go straight to LSP, on light coloured paints.

On darker cars I follow PG with Final Finish(PO85RD, PO85RE5 or PO106FF.

IMHO PG is better then OHC, wich I didn´t like so much. Did not cut on the cars with hard clears and etc.

Try the job with IP and a polishing pad, if that don´t work, go for a light cutting pad then a heavy cutting pad/wool.

Then PG with the same pads.

I've had great success at times with OHC and a yellow pad with my circular. It is entirely dependent on the condition of the paint and realative hardness of the CC. Sorry but I've not used PG (yet).

I just recently did a performance review of OHC, Menz 106FF and Zaino ZPC on the same vehicle and found the 106FF to be the most effective at removing swirls, OHC to be almost as effective as 106FF and the Zaino required 2 attempts on the same section - all with the yellow LC pad.

Sorry this doesn't compare to PG performance and you and others who've responded here have piqued my interest in PG. (That's all I need right now is another product to try!!! j/k).

Pander5:

Interesting that a finishing polish did the same job as the Hypercompound. That´s why Menzerna is my no1.

It´s a shame you cant get the PO85RD3.02 over there, the newest version of the Intensive polish. You can call it Intelligent Polish beacuse it can do almost everything.

Did you write down the review somewhere or? Maybee pictures before, during and after?
