I can't decide which brand to use to clean my wheels and tires. And I can't decide which Dressing to use either.

Has anybody used any of the following cleaners?:

Blackfire Gel Wheel & Tire Cleaner

Menzerna Gel 7.5 Tire & Wheel Cleaner

P21S Regular and Gel formula

Amazing Roll-Off

Or Dressings?:

Duragloss #253

Blackfire Long Lasting Tire Gel

Optimum Tire Shine

This is enough gloss for me:

This is TOO much gloss:

Also, has anyone tried Poorboy’s Wheel Sealant?

How about Wheel Wax?

Here are my top 3 tire dressings

1. Eimann Fabrik Tire Black

2. Eimann Fabrik Tire Gel

3. PB Bold N Bright.

4. Would probably be blackfire.

As far as wheel cleaners, I like P21S Total Auto Wash. It can be used for so many things, rather than have a dedicated wheel cleaner.

I use Top of the Lines Tire Cleaner and Grape Tire Dressing. Not too glossy for me (unless I throw on two coats of the dressing), and the tire cleaner sure pulls a lot of brown crap outta the tires. After the wheels are clean I usually give them a quick once over with DG's Aquawax. Quick and easy. There are lots of different combos out there that I'm sure would give similar results.

Good luck!

Griots Garage wheel cleaner and vinyl/rubber dressing. BBS and Dayton wire wheels have both approved of the wheel cleaner, its good stuff.

The rubber dressing leaves a nice black finish that isnt glossy like the second pic.

The wheel wax works well, but I (usually) use eaither AIO or Griots Garage Paint sealant.

Looks like I'm going with Blackfire for the cleaner, I got this off Properautocare:

Wheel cleaner comparisons:

The strongest wheel cleaner we offer is Amazing Roll-Off. Used full strength, Roll-Off has a pH of 14. Following is Eimann Fabrik Hi-Intensity Cleaner with a pH of 13 (when used full strength). Both Amazing Roll-Off and Hi-Intensity Cleaner are great for professional detailers or for any situation (commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles) where extra cleaning punch is required. Roll-Off and Hi-Intensity both contain butyl. The second strongest wheel cleaner we offer is BLACKFIRE Gel Wheel and Tire Cleaner. BLACKFIRE Gel Wheel Cleaner measures a pH of 12.5 but that doesn't tell the whole story. Being 100% water-based and containing no acids, butyl or petroleum solvents, it cleans with the gentleness of soap.

I agree with 2.5rs, top of the line's Grape dressing really is the gold standard for tire dressings... it just looks *so good*. As for cleaners, what kind of rims do you have and what kind of dusting do you get? It is definetly not a "one-size-fits-all" problem. We have 4 different cars at my house and they get 4 different wheel cleaning regimens.

Mine are polished aluminum, they get Wheel Brightener twice a year which dulls the heck out of them (but it burns the barrels clean), aluminum polish via machine to fix the dullness, and then maintained with S100 Polishing Soap, regular carwash soap, and Poorboy's Wheel Sealant.

My sister's car gets wheel brightener weekly - it's got cheap painted hubcaps that are hard to clean. I don't bother to seal the wheels on it.

Our Taurus gets Wheel Brightener once a month or so to get the wells and corners clean, weekly it gets washed normally as I seal the wheels with PBWS or OS.

I couldn't use Polishing Soap on either of those (clearcoated wheels) as it would cause some major scratching... so it's definetly a tailored approach.

Edit: I've got the polished wheels on a 97GTP, so if you got the polished wheels upgrade, its a good thing to know. I've found that high PH cleaners tend to dull the polish too.

I've got stock Honda wheels. Not much dusting at all.

My girl's Mini has stock wheels also but her brake pads dust like there's no tomorrow!! Two days after a wash and her Mini looks like went through mud!

I have/used P21S's regular wheel cleaner, neutral PH, works not bad, although I would recommend maybe the gel for tougher jobs. Dressing I use PB B n B, gives a nice low gloss look. I have heard a lot of good things about that Grape dressing though, might have to giver a shot.
