I've got the PC. I've got the DACP. I've got the yellow CMA pad. I've definetly got the hair line scratches.

What I don't have is the know-how to get these scratches off! I set the PC on 6 with the yellow pad and I tried my hardest to get these scratches out. I couldn't budge these things. What am I doing wrong? Can someone point to a write-up of the correct procedure for DACP if possible? Any help is appreciated. I'm DYING to get my Zaino on, and I can't until I get these scratches taken care of.

SpeedSolutions,

I just went thru this a few weeks ago on my car. AFTER (not BEFORE, I know, I know) buying DACP, I called Meguiar's Tech Support and asked them what grit level was DACP. They told me 2000 which puts it up there with Menzerna IP at level 5. This was not strong enuf for my swirls. I don't know if the rep was telling me the truth or not but DACP would not work for me nor did IP.

I graduated to a compound (Menzerna PowerGloss) rated at 1000-1500 grit which did the trick for me. You will need to do the same (or get a rotary). I am not an expert on 3M nor Meguiar's nor PRO compounds but take a look at Meg #1 or 3M PI III Rubbing Compound (05933) or PRO Duz-All (R-40). These products are 1 step higher than DACP. I don't like alot of haze when using any strong stuff but again its part of the territory that you are in.

Maybe someone who has used these compounds before can offer some guidance.

Try misting the pad and or area to be worked with water brfore applying. I have found that this can make a product like DACP a touch more aggressive. In your case you may need something a little stronger or a rotary(as someone else stated). But, it is worth a try before you buy anything else. Good luck!

Well the thing with most polishes nowadays is that they have diminishing abrasives.

This means that you want to start out the PC at maybe speed 2-3 to spread the product around the area you are working on, then work it in. Some people like a figure 8 pattern, some other patterns, it doesn't matter. Work it a bit, without too much pressure then up the speed, work it in, up the speed, then when you get up to speed 6 the heavy cutting has already been done and the polish should be finishing up (diminishing abrasives) and coming to a nice finish.

Experiment with speed and pressure and time you work the stuff in but half the result is because of the technique. Work with it, find what brings the best results. Good Luck!

i had the same problem too the first time i used it. I just got my meguirs cutting pad so i am going to try dacp again.
