I love this business (today anyway!)

Well I finally forced myself to get my own vehicle into the shop and detail it for a change rather than everyone else's cars. Man oh man - how therapeutic! It really puts it in perspective why I do this for a living - the feeling of joy as I drooled over the reflections in the perfect paint. I now remember what the customer feels like again after getting their car detailed! Now to the problem at hand.....how the hell am I going to keep getting my Grand Cherokee into the shop without sacrificing a paying job! :)

I know what you mean. I am so busy with everyone else's cars, I end up neglecting mine. I am lucky to even wash mine once a week. I used to wash it at least twice a week, dust and QD it nearly every day, and wax it every 2 to 3 weeks. I may have time to wax mine every couple of months and I haven't touched my interior other than a quick vacuum in more than 6 months.

Oh well, I can sacrifice my car when the money is rolling in. I'd rather have a ton of business and have little time to spend on my car than the other way around! It poured most of the day in the Dallas area, but I still had an Escalade EXT to detail...btw, make sure to charge extra for those, they take forever to detail!

I do feel good when I do have time to make my car immaculate though.

I knew there would be other detailers who would know my pain! I worked my *** off so I could get the new, expensive SUV and now I have no time to detail it! Life's a *****. Too true that I would rather be too busy than the alternative though. I usually have some time during the winter to do this every so often as the crappy weather here usually slows us down a bit but not this year! We are doing summer sales despite the garbage weather. Funny thing is I was thrilled to detail my truck top to bottom today despite the fact that it was slushy with freezing rain! It sure was fun watching all the crap just slide off the freshly waxed paint!

Damn, now I have to clean my interior. :D

I try to keep the outside up as best as I have time for, but I live in my car, eat in my car, etc. Not nasty or anything, mostly just clutter.

Ive been told that the sign of a busy detailer is his vehicle is always dirty. I try to clean my truck every two weeks, just for the rollin advertisement! :bounce

People expect the SS to be spotless so that is no fun, now the Saturn..... I try to put as much time as I can on it. It really helps to have clean car to sell detailing jobs, I wouldnt let somone that had a Crappy paint job on there house, paint my house. :nixweiss

Kind of like what my dad always told me. Always get the barber with the worst haircut!

I know many Mechanics and Body Men who drive beaters.
