I just ordered Vintage

As a vendor I can tell you how huge it is. With building overhead, Transaction fees, website costs, employee costs, advertising costs... The average profit is 30%-35%. Zymol only gives their distributors a small chunk, a $1800+ MSRP Vintage costs a distributor about $1600..........

Hmmm really, thats interesting. I was wrong, i thought it would be like 60 er 70% in clothing its about 50-75%.

wow wonder what happened. went to see how much it was selling for and its gone. checked completed listings and says he removed the item because it is no longer available....wonder what happened to the wax lol.

I reported the item as possibly faudulent, maybe that is why?

quick update on the wax, i know iknow im brining up an old thread but its almost 1am here and i cant sleep and have nothing else to do.

so after my final yesterday i needed to relax, i decided hey its 0 out why not wash my car? so i did..

I went to the coin wash, sprayed it off and started to notice some slight loss of beading, it was still strong but not as strong as day one... so that was 6 weeks ago. I would say it has not yet reached its half life. i have some 2 weeks old on my moms car so we will see.. anyway. i applied anohter coat and i looks great.

I have ot say the car looks better after 3ish weeks. The wax seems to need to age.

oh yeah keep in mind my car is outside 24/7 it has seen heat, cold, snow, rain, ice, dirt, rocks, ect in those 6 weeks, this weather is not easy on my car, most weeks it gets a quick spray at the coin wash..

as for the jar, i may need a refilll sooner then thought. I have 5 family cars right now (jag is in storage and t-bird just got finished at rm restorations) i have waxed them all a few times. i have 3 coars on my little bros car, 3 on my older bros car, 2 on my moms rx, had 3 on my dads park avenue, 4 on my car, 3 on my buddies truck(his b-day present) and then 2 on my best friends first car.. i have used about 1/3 of the jar... so thats 15 car so far.. i use alot... i dont mind using more, as its reffiable..... I also have a small contnier stashed in my garage, my parents house and my work bay (buddies car wash).... so i guees not really 1/3 but close... i need a stash for when i run out.. im thinkng I will get 2 or 3 more months before i hacve to send it back....

well sorry for the ramblings

Not to bring up a bad subject, but there was a thread about an order pending at OCDGarage.

I wanted to cross post this thread as a reference.

Hope all is going well with the Vintage, and BTW, it's wax, not something to eat I know it smells good but you need to refill already? WOW!:shocked

Hi calgary, I'm curious about a few things.

Do you have to ship the plexiglas container back to Zymol or is there an inner container/sleeve that holds the wax? I'm wondering how much that thing weighs and how much does it cost to ship?

Does Zymol pay for the return shipping or do you have to pay both ways?

I've heard different stories about Zymol limiting the number refills you can ask for per year - is there any truth to that?

Also, I assume you originally had Zymol ship it directly to you via UPS, right? How much did UPS ding you for "brokerage"?

Thanks. :)

Are you thinking of ordering some?

phillipM-yes i have applied it via towl, since i have refills i have tried it all, i have used a cold applicator, with a warm applicator, mybare hands, hand with latex gloves, hands with neoprine gloves,i have tried terry cloth, tried mf, i have tired almost everything.

I have since ordered a polsishing pal and some pads to see hwo that works.. i figure why not, yeah some of them sue way more wax then needed but thats the joy of vintage

deanksi- cool, yeah there is lots of info here on ocd, i have not stated many opions (well atleast i dont think) i have simply posted what happened when it happened, for example when after a month i got an e-mail, i posted that i got an e-mail......

but vintage is safe at home now.. she sits on my mantel as a peice of art. (i cant afford art now) so all is good now thanks

ohh and i mnot ready to refill it yet, im thinking i will need to in feb. or early march.

superstring- you have to ship the whole contaner back, there is no sleave to remove.. wel not that i have found, although its not to to heavy.. remeber is over a pound lighter when you send it back

You have to pay shipping both way. it costs mt 35 bucks to have it shipped form zymol orginonaly..

I contacted diance and dave (i think thats his name but i ould be wrong) on 5 or 6 occasison over 6 or so months, i kept asking is there a limit, i have heard of a limit, They said nope you can refill as often as you want.. the is no limit.

Zymol shipped is ups yes, they charged me 180 and change.. so under 190 bucks,, so a litle over duty (duty being 120) but i was expecting it to be 180 so i was not worried.

hope that helps

ohh and on a side note, if you intersted in vintage I woild recomend tryin one of the lower estate glazes first, althoutgh each is diffrent and has its own looks they all apply (well the ones i have tried) in a similar fashion, they take some getting used to... i would say try concours see how you like it, if you like it then great if not then welll you saved 1800bucks.... just my opion ofcourse as thats what i did

calgary, thanks for answering my questions. But surely you didn't have to pay Duty? Any product produced in the US should be duty free - Free Trade and all that!

MDRX8 - Just thinking aloud. Gotta win the Lottery first!

thre wasnt a duty but there was the gst.. all items brought into canada are subject to a 6% gst excluding gifts under a value of $40CDN... so yeah it was just the gst plus broakerage fees:shocked

Hey, you only have a short period here so go for the best. I'm sure my Vintage will be waiting at the pearly gates. (and my new RED VETTE Z06).....

this thread is never gonna die. we are 70 pages strong and need another 70 :woot2:

Looks like you're enjoying the vintage. Its great to see that some of the things I talked about with this wax you have experienced.....especially with its talent as it gets a little old.

Like I said earlier, I was absolutely amazed at the rendering power of Concours, and I thought that it would not be beat; Vintage quickly changed my opinion of it vs. concours. I still hold concours with great esteem, but Vintage is all about clarity, volume, color intensity and reflective power. You won't find greasy residue or an oily sheen with this caliber of EG (and I dare say with most of the authentic zymols).

Now...............I just can't wait to see it on the Jag. I am a sucker for a zymol and red!!!!

MDRX....you owe me some more sun shots........

and my friend Accumulator..............you are next................lol!!!!!!

(evil laugh)lollllll!!! Forgot about you too Diesel. If it weren't for that darn Ital though.....I'd (well its we now with Mike , Supe, Picus and company) had you ordering too. You're not gonna go Accumulator on me now, are ya??!?!?!?! lol!!!!
