I just don't see why everyone misses this??

I heard about a really lame plate frame the other day. Its this Infinity with a Nissan dealership plate frame. Can you believe that?? Someone oughta do something about that.... :naughty
Touche! It's temporary I swear! Just until the new plates arrive!! :angel

I think I am missing the point, I think they are not advertising, but showing that it is made by them and representing its quality and calibur in the clothing world. Same as a prancing horse on a Ferrari, it is representing that it is world renown "Ferrari" out of Maranello, Italy.

I agree that the polo shirt is no different than having a Chevy symbol, the Ferrari horse etc. because the manufacturer has it's name on it and not where you bought it from.

Side note- We purchased a 98 Wrangler and the spare tire cover was the dealer advertising in HUGE letters. Well no biggie- take it off right....BUT After looking at the window sticker we were charged $50 for the tire cover!!!! Total BS, so off to the dealer with tire cover in hand wanting a refund. All they had to say was "Well we figure that we knock so much off the sticker price that you aren't even paying for it" So much for our business from that dealer ever again...

Definetly my Jeep was bought from Clifford autopark back in 2000, when we bought it had 2 stickers on each side of the tail gate and two dealer plate frames and even a dealer sticker on the owners manual. I told the sales guy, I understand 1 clifford jeep on the rear but 2, I told him it was Cheesy, they took it off on the spot.

My wife's car has scratches where the used car dealer had removed poorly the lease company's sticker and covered the scratches with their own sticker. They also had the frames on both front and rear. While I plan to give them more business in future, I don't plan on being an advert for anything except maybe a small flag sticker someday on the window of both our cars.

On my parents' car the same thing happened to the frame, ;) but for some reason my parents can be a bit anal about bumper stickers (I hate them also), but tell me not to remove the dealer stickers, because "If we take the car into the local dealer and they find out we didn't get it there, they'd get mad." I was thinking "then why not remove it to begin with and they don't have no reason to ask anyways?"

I saw another thing with dealer frames the other day that is pretty stupid: Breaking the frame off so they can replace the expiration stickers, yet leaving the rest of the frame at the top or top and one side of the plates.

I'm definitely a no frame kinda guy... I don't particularly like logos like the polo logo on my clothing either. It seems to me that alot of folks buy that type of clothing just to show other people they have good taste simply b/c the logo is there and since it's polo it must be nice and stylish as well. I prefer to buy clothing that shows I have good taste without the logo, that's more satisfying imo.

Not sure about the polo horse, but I do like the abercrombie moose and hollister seagull to be on my shirts. I also have an excellent dealer and do not care to advertise with a logo on my tailgate, no plate frames though.

Oh, I definitely don't like frames... it just breaks up the look car even more. I know in some states they're even illegal! For example, in Delaware I got pulled over once (a friend was driving, luckily) and got a $25 ticket for an "equipment charge"... it was going to be for speeding, but the cop changed it to a ticket that has no points. The reason they're illegal is because it obscures the registration sticker. Odd since that particular frame came from the dealership the car was purchased at.

I hate those stupid dealer plates! Not to mention the dealer stickers and placards that they stick on...usually crooked no less.

I'm very adament about de-badging my cars as soon as I get them. I like a clean look, no gaudy plate frames, dealer emblems or car badges.

I wish dealers would ask if you want them before slappin' them on there.

When I bought my Subaru I told them not to even take the transportation sheets off. Don't touch it, I said. So they drive it up and it has a dealer sticker already on the back. As I stood there peeling it off right in front of the salesman I asked him what part of "don't touch it" implied that I wanted their dealership sticker on the back?

I have to admit that it is a good advertising strategy. I have seen plate frames for dealerships that I would have never heard of if it wasn't for the frame. They don't have to advertise on radio or TV if they can get enough people to drive around with their dealership name on the back of their cars.

i just had my plates installed (on my new car). once i got it home and took that crappy dealer frame off. I put some felt buttons on the back of my plate because the plate sinches up right to the body. i also replaced the philips screws with some square head screws (who carrys around square heads?). they arnt stainless or anthing but il just replace then with something else if they start to rust

Hence....AVERTISING!!! That is what a logo does is advertise.

I am with most of the people on this subject. I don't like the idea of me giving free advertising to a dealer with their branded license frames. I got a "vietnam veteran" on the front of both of my vehicles and "NASA" on the back of each (where I work). I notice that the hard core metal-to-the-body dealerships emblems tend to be from out of state, -- I have never seen those in California.....just the license plate frames. Just take a day to notice the cars around you.... a great majority of them still have the dealer frames......not me.

One other thing is that the hybrids need to have those decals (in California anyway) on their bumper corners, the yellow sticker that easily ID's them as ok to use the diamond lane. I hate decals of any kind on my vehicles, including bumper stickers, etc.

Heres another "good" one! I was going to pick up my brand new Ranger XLT, and I told them NO stickers or frames(Plus here in AZ we don't have front plates anyways). I go to pick it up and NO stickers, or frame IN THE BACK, but the FRONT has one on it! I'm like WTF ! Take that off! They tell me 'Oh, we can't its RIVETED on!"So I go on a tirade at these idiots, and said "get me a drill I'll do it myself!"They don't have a clue, what a drill was,so I left . Needless to say I WON"T ever be buying a vehicle from them again, and warn everyone about them :wall.

While the frames may be bad enough, it's the dealers that drill a hole in your trunk lid to attach an emblem of their name that really get me. I think that really takes nerve to attach something like that to your new car.
