I had a thought

I was washing my wifes infiniti and the front of the car is pretty rough from rock chips and i was thinking why did i not do the clearbra when it was new. But then i wondered why they dont make the clearbra material in the car color,I really dont want to paint the front but this would be a great way to prolong the look of a vehical for a very cost effective way to keep from repainting.I may ask 3m is this possible.I know it may not match perfectly color wise, but it would look better than it does now.

Would it be possible to paint the bra on the inside using the flex additive for bumpers and trim ?? Making it match shade by computer matching and mixing .Like we did as kids to clear slot car bodies.
Seems the bra manufacturers would be up against a demand for too many various colors of product to meet demand.

Arent these sticky on the inside to adhere to car?

So if you painted em inside they wouldnt stick.

it's scary :yikes:when you think :lol2:

like Paul said ..too many colors to match ... you could get black like stretch wrap and it would hide everything including the paint ... color injection would not be a problem ..just too many to match and what about metal flake?:notme:

I've never had a clear bra nor installed one and have only had a few friends that have them. Have no idea if the back side is sticky or a 3m type adhesive is sprayed to one surface or the other. On a clear surface this could create a major problem but with a painted bra the glue would be hidden. Seems it would be easy to produce the bra with out a sticky surface. Just a thought.

On an Infinity, you'd better apply the clear bra within 30 seconds of vehicle purchase... better yet, before it comes off the boat. What is with that paint? Is it just me?

Nice idea but, Like others here have stated its a match thing.

Also being the stuff will be just as susceptible to rock damage the clear or colored layer will get beaten up also.

The clear product is better now than before it was turning yellow after time when it first came out. That problem has been corrected, but it will still get rough from rocks and road debris.

If the chips bother you just paint and then use the clear and change when its getting ugly.At least this way your paint will be fresh and clean.

My father in-laws 04' G35 still looks good. Not many chips if any at all.
