I don't detail mini-vans
Well, I just thought these would be cool to wear while detailing and I wanted to look more presentable when picking up customers vehicles. I ordered 36 and also ordered 12 pink for my wife, friends and female customers. *EDIT*... I smudged out my slogan for private reasons.

I did it a little different. I thought it was important to keep all the shirts the same color. I don't like putting my number on the shirts. They are for identification and not advertising. I think it looks nicer without the number. I also made sure they can be read from a good distance. And a logo is a must.

I think that Superior Shine gleaming car sign can really become a brand insignia of its own. It's original and understated while still getting the message across. I really think it's great and would even consider marketing it as a general detailing logo on clothing.

The shirts look good.
It's hard to tell from the pictures, but maybe on your next run of shirts to make your company name a little larger so it can be seen from a distance. Also if you have a logo put that on as well, people don't always remember a name.

Just a thought

I understand about a logo, I wish I could find on that I liked. I have gotten 20 details from the shirts alone, because the number on the back. Why would you advertise a number on your van and not your shirt? Doesn't make sense.

Nobody has ever asked my van for a business card and gotten one.

Also, I have never been asked to hold still while someone copies down the phone number on my shirt.

Like I said. I am not a billboard. I wear the shirts to ID us and to give us a consistant look.

If they want a number I will give them a card.

I like the shirt, but the logo could be a little bigger, as j said.

My shirts/hats/aprons/jackets are just the logo. I have a slick business card with all info (well, almost all, next run it'll come). I put info on my vehicle since it is one that fits the sharp image, an 01 Dark Blue Jimmy with tinted rear windows. My signage sucks right now and I've run out of money, so there you go.

The problem with my logo is it looks just average in the b/w newsprint ads like the autoseller. That's where a simpler image with single colours comes it great.

I like the simplicity of the shirt, but will customers buy it, or is it a stocking stuffer?

Thanks for your imput about your van and business card experiences, I'm sure that too alot of thought before you posted it. I used to buy white shirts, but my guys and I get filthy, cause I do nasty ones, and then they stain and look like poop. So I guess Superior Shine is a household name in your area? NA deveryone only uses you. I'm glad you have a following like that, but I don't. My company only did 47K last year part-time, so there is room for much need improvment. It must be nice to have work come to you, without listing a phone number, website, etc. or doing any marketing. I'm sure you van isn't moving while you detailing is it? I'm sure it's parked next to where your working. I suppose then if someone drives up and asks, then you could talk with them. I 'm not moblie, I used to be but, Atlanta area counties and cities will not allow run off of water from car washing. Must be re-claim and hauled off. I'm fixed building with 700 sq ft. with a sign. So how do people get your number, by only talking to you? Or customers? don't have as good a following as you do, I have to rely on people referring I live in the south, where all they do is talk and gossip. If this a woman finds out that her friend got her car detailed by me, and she was pleased, she will call me and so on. Or at least that's how it has been working for me the last 3 years with the tee-shirts. People are walking, talking billboards for me, most of the are customers. Keep doing what works for you on the west coast biggin' and I'll keep doing what works for me here in the south.

PEI, funny enough I have many customers ask for one if they see me wearing one, while I'm working or one of my employees will give them one. Most of my family, friends and detail suppliers where I buy my stuff wear them too.

What your asking doesn't make sence. How do people get my number? web-site, yellow pages, direct mailers, business cards, referals, van signage.

A live breathing person wearing my shirt dosent need to have a phone number or web-site address on it. Like I said nobody ever asked me to hold still while the copy the number down off a shirt.

You asked "What do you think? Is this professional or tacky?" If you can't handle anything other than "AW MAN YOUR THE GREATEST" then you shouldn't have asked.

I have added my two cents and then some. I am done with this thread.

I was raised in Atlanta, GA. lived in Chamblee and near stone mountain, Good luck to you and your business.

Gentlemen, please rember that different people have different appproaches to promoting their businesses, it does not mean that either way is wrong, just different.

You just have to find the one that best suits you and your target market, there will also be a different approach for someone that operates from a fixed location than one that is a mobile operation, basically to do with the fact that the mobile rig can be used as a rolling advertisement, where the fixed is forced to go a more conventional route and will look for other ways to get thier name and number out to the public.

Sorry if I went a little O/T, I now return you to your normal thread

Oh I see.... web-site, yellow pages, direct mailers, business cards, referals, van signage. You do all of that? Is it very expensive, like under 3K or more? I wished I had the money for that. I spend $500 at a local radio station and that's about it. I am glad you gave your opinon, and it is respected. I know very well who you are as I read your work in Professional Carwashing & Deatiling Mag. also. Sorry if I sounded arrogant, it wasn't meant that way. Thanks again for your input!
