I Got $300, what should I buy?

You will need the PC now and over time and Poorboys products will do a great job for you.

True to my usual form I'd recommend that you just keep it simple and get what you need from Poorboy and that would include: SSR1 (to remove swirls and minor scratches) Polish (with or without carnuba) EX or the new EX-P, Natty's Wax, Natural Look, Bold n Bright, Trim Restorer, clay bar, some mf towels and most importantly some Spray and Wipe! If it were a close friend asking I'd say call Steve at Poorboys and he'll give you the benfits of his years of body shop and detailing experience and he won't sell you anything you don't need..that's a promise.

~One mans opinion / observation~

A PC and then basic supplies (wash mitt, towels, applicators, etc) and best advice I’ve seen for a ‘starter’, read the review section on products and "Learn the prep b4 using good products, it will save you $$$ in the long run." hondaguy2582

~ Hope this helps ~

Uhh...my head hurts.

So much stuff to get a car looking ripe, but I know it'll all be worth it in the end.

A few days ago I purchased Mothers Clay Bar (the kit comes with the QD too), Meg's DC step 1 and 2, Meg's NXT, and a wool mit. The total for these 5 things came out to $50. Now I'm starting to wonder if I should return it all and spend the $50+ on better products.

Poorboys seems to be popular so I'll check that out, also Pakshak seems to be good also for my towels.

Thanks for all the info so far, I'll go shopping when I have some time and get back to you with what I bought. If anyone else has opinios please chime in!

Sorry I don't mean to hijack the thread but: tom p, could you please tell me what "blitz wax" is? I have never heard of that before. Thanks

Crappy website, but check here http://www.onegrand.com/

Nice wax, but stains trim. I use on hood, roof and trunk and on the whole surface of vehicles that have zero plastic trim on the exterior.

...1 Grand's Blitz Wax was regarded as the gold standard for a value-filled tin of hi-grade carnauba for about $15. Easy to work with and offered superior longevity to just about any other carnauba wax out there. It probably is a bit higher effort than something like P21S but you could get a few weeks more longevity out of it.

It was the preferred "topper" carnauba.

Nice stuff and you get a serious amount for $15....enough to handle many cars.

Probably the closest direct comparison I could make would be Natty's Wax....it's of that caliber. Check it out for yourself.

I don't understand, so what's replaced it as the "gold standard "? P21S?

I would probably agree with you - - the P21S/S100 appears to be the favorite carnauba at this time.

People that use a lot of carnauba should check out the 1 Grand Blitz Wax....it's certainly a Heavy Duty Carnauba.

Tom, for a continuation of the thread hijack, have you used #16? I wondered how you would compare the two as 16 is my current heavy duty carnuba of choice.

I'll be up in Brookline the last weekend of March--maybe we can trade slices of wax pie.

I can't comment. That may be the only product out there I have yet to try. :D

Yes if you are able to return the Step 1 and 2 products and are willing to order online.

No, obviously, if the products cannot be returned.

NXT is pretty useful and many have found it easy to use, at the very least so I would hold onto that.

Check the mitt--it should be sheepskin. Feel the inside to see if it is leather. If so, it's a keeper.

The Mother's Claybar kit is a keeper. In addition, you get a ton of QD with it that smells delicious.

pristine white Jeep up here.....winter is returning.

Nope--I'm up there to pick up the little lady and her  snowboard, meet some folks at the airport with their  snowboards and head to VT. Thus, the Accord gets the wear and tear. 700 miles one-way in a soft-top TJ is not a good time.

*EDIT* tnoy, I was writing while you were posting--Scout's Honor!:D
