I found a quick way to remove brake dust!

I have not run into that problem yet. It does look dirty, but it is still cleaning well. I think it looks worse than it is due to the black color of the brake dust. I probably clean the wheels 2-3 times per week.



I have heard of people washing the CCD but I have not tried that. My plan was to just buy another one when this one got bad. They usually have them at Target.



I'll be switching to ceramic pads soon on the vette, so hopefully the problem with get much less.

I looked on the Target web site. No luck. I'm assuming that it's a local item only. Do you remember the cost?

I don't remember the cost. I looked at the plastic container that it is in hoping there would be a price....but no luck.



If you don't find it at Target you can probably find it at most part supply places, like pep boys.



You may also find it online at some of the detail parts places that can be found in the links section of autopia.org. I looked at one of the places (autogeek) and they had it for $9.95.

In Vancouver I have to worry about the brake dust getting wet almost instantly (only in summer does it go a few days without raining), and my car's brake pads are REALLY bad for dust (03 SVT Focus).



Because I will not compromise my braking with pads that dust less, I try to apply some random no-name sealant I have kicking around once every few weeks, and it REALLY helps taking the brake dust off the next time I goto wash it.



I am waiting to see how Clearkotes new Wheel Sealant is going to do, I may pick up some of that if our fellow autopians give it the thumbs up.

Solved the dust problem on my Cad. I have not noticed any extra rotor ware. But if there is and I have to change them a little sooner its worth not having to mess w/the dust all the time. Plus I have saved $ not buying wheel cleaner all the time.

Same here. Not only did my braking perfomance improve, there is almost zero dust on the rims. I have disc front/drum rear and the fronts get only slightly more dirty than the rears after driving...even if I can't clean the car for a week + because of weather. I also use a sealant or Collinite on the rims after cleaning so that helps too.
