I don't wanna live on this planet anymore

Call me a bully if you must. But I see no reason to tolerate a 65 yr old named Caitlyn. What's wrong good old fashioned solid names like Sharon, or Barbara?

In today's America - you must tolerate anyone, into anything, at any time. This is progress. If transgendered people in the limelight are making you people nervous; wait until you see what is coming next.

I don't get why this is still news. Jenner hasn't been relevant for nearly 40 years now. And it's not like thousands of people have already gone through a change like that...and didn't kill someone with their SUV.

I agree there is really nothing new. They use words like "courage". It is being marketed (like in the Vanity Fair stuff) and the media is repeating it. I do not see why it deserves any kind of special reward.

Heh heh, yeah...my views on certain issues aren't always popular here.

GearHead_1- No worries; mutual respect here but that doesn't mean we'll always agree. No offense taken at all. You gave me cause to reflect on some things and introspection is good, especially when I get up on my high horse.

This is part of my "judge [fairly] and be judged". I won't always like the judgment passed on me but I'll consider it and live with it.

One thing though- my views on this bullying stuff didn't come from some elevated pedestal/ivory tower contemplation but rather from IRL, up-close-and-personal, life-altering experience. I do have a personal stake in the topic of "bullying".

(Admittedly, what qualifies as "bullying" can be subjective and yes, I err on the side of caution by identifying with the perspective of the apparent victim.)

I readily admit I have a very short fuse on the topic. Yes indeed, I pass judgment on bullies (online, IRL, period). With me, it's personal.

What I *don't* see myself passing judgment on is the specific sort of personal issues under discussion here (i.e., sexual identity/orientation). I have friends in the LGBT community and I've seen first-hand what they go through. People who aren't wired that way can't walk in their moccasins and IMO should just leave the topic alone.

Hey, another thing I'll pass judgment on- That SUV crash! If you can't control your vehicle, *all the time*, don't drive. Period. I don't care *who* it is... that [crap] is inexcusable. [Freakin'] menace to society...

I think many of us have either friends or family that have faced these struggles. I'm no stranger to watching people close to me deal with it. Please note, I did not slam Mr. Jenner, I simply stated and feel strongly that his transgender issues are not news worthy. Now if you want to discuss his driving issues... I think he should be serving time. That thought obviously lends itself to the question of where he would serve time, the men's or women's prison? Heck, what do I know? I'm right back to the point I was trying to make. Why am I wasting a thought on his situation?

The usual reasons for announcing this is for attention, vanity, and money. This is similar to the other plastic surgery.

Yup, the Iraq war vet is a real example of true courage. The other point is that the Aurthur Ashe Courage Award might not be really all that worthy this year. Hollow and vapid. More politically correct than being really correct.

The name for the new Jenner reality show is going to be called 'I am Cait'.

My favourite show will be called 'I am Not Watching'.

If Jenner wants to pretend to be a woman so be it but why is this news worthy? Reality TV in so many instances has become such a poor influence on humanity. In my mind reality TV should be shows like This Old House and Yan can Cook, not the Kardashians. I and I believe many others have never seen a single episode of the Kardashians but how could anyone not be aware of them? We're not just treading water here, we're sinking. It's completely beyond my comprehension. Just my two cents.

Exactly!

I have no problem with anyone, period. I'm more of an advocate for ga.y (Wow it's censored), etc. Being I have 3 family members who are, however I find it DISGUSTING that the american people show more love an support ONE MAN getting a sex change then an entire NATION of fallen an wounded soldiers. DISGUSTING!!!!!!!

I definitely think, gender/sex related issues are overlooked and there needs to be a conscious effort to get people to understand these are human beings and should be treated as such, I also believe Bruce is not the person I would want a spokes person/face for a movement.

Personally i couldn't give a rats a** about bruce or whatever his/her name is. Being a military veteran myself this whole thing is irritating. Say goodbye to the traditional USA.
