I don't think this one will buff out . . .

Norah, my job prevents me from seeing the pic of your car, but I'm glad that YOU are okay! I join the rest of the guys here in saying how happy I am that you came through this. You are a welcome poster on this forum and I don't know what we'd do without your spirited posts!

Red light running is a normal thing here in Houston. I dont get it. I've almost be hit a few times now. At least you didn't get hurt. :)

I'm glad to here you are doing ok, the car can be fixed or replaced, but you can't. I saw the results of an accident on the freeway this morning, a pickup was practically demolished. From the reports on the radio, the driver died.

Thankfully you are here to tell your story, that poor guy in the pickup can't.

Sorry to hear about your accident Norah. :( I'm glad you're doing okay, but people are right about going for a physical no matter how you feel. Just to cover your bases, you'll want it officially documented that you sought medical attention soon after the accident.

Thank God you're okay! As most people said you need it documented that you were checked out by a physician.

Norah..

Glad you are ok...but please go get checked out....when I was rear ended I was sore ..but a few days later I was in pain.....the shoulder strap jarred my shoulder and I had a small bone chip....so please get your self checked....I wish I was close to offer any help..but I am not...

I do not think that will buff out....But I am glad you were able to walk away from that....

Take care..will talk to you soon

Good thing your ok. People who run red lights should be treated like those who drink and drive.

Your trucks not that bad, a new front clip, probably a rad support, lights. I bet the insurance company has a few that got hit in the rear they can use parts from.
No used parts on Norahs CRV!!!

And the lesson learned from this, is that if I had not entered the intersection slowly, checking as I went, I would have been in the middle of the street & would not be typing this post. So please, be VERY defensive out there, folks!!

Glad to hear your ok...always the most important thing (as much as well all love cars, they can be replaced, we cannot).

Your quote above is exactly the reason I always hesitate when making turns, going through lights 90% of the time...just in case someone does something stupid. I know last week if I hadn't done just that I would have been broadsided while making a right on a red. I had come to a complete stop, and was just about to go, then this black object just shot passed me, right where I would have been had I not hesitated. They did have the green, however black car + night + lack of proper street lighting + them driving with their lights off would have spelled the end of my car and possibly my life.

Be careful out there everyone...

Update . . .

Thank you all for your good wishes & support:)

I feel like I spent the day on the phone today with Enterprise Rent a Car, my Honda dealer, the bodyshop, & the insurance company (each one several times!!).

I'm feeling more & more "twinges" today, so I think I'll take all your advice & try to get in with my doctor later this week for a checkover.

The police did not permit me to speak with the alleged driver of the other vehicle at the scene. Eyewitnesses had seen somebody exit from the driver's door of the car & run away, but nobody was able to stop him. Another person claimed to be the driver, and they told the police that they have insurance, but the information was not given to me on their form (nor was a Drivers' License Number provided???). I've told my insurance company all of this & it is currently in their hands.

I did get a rental car this morning & I can't say enough nice things about the fellow at Enterprise Rent A Car. When I told him of my situation, (needing the size/space/configuration of the V), he searched all about the valley & located a 2006 CR-V for me to drive. Unfortunately, it is dark blue & swirled & water-spotted horribly!! I hope I feel well enough while it's still in my garage to make some improvements & get pictures!!

Anyhow, thanks again everybody & please be really, really careful out there!!!

Leave it to Norah to want to make a rental even better than when she received it. The Enterprise people ought to give you a deep discount when you turn it in.

Update: I don't think this one will buff out . . .

. . . I got the call from the insurance adjuster today & after the initial estimate of $8,000 to repair my '04 CR-V, they started looking "inside" to see what hidden damage there was. It included the left frame rail & the engine cradle & I don't know what else & it has bumped the repair costs up enough for them to consider the car "unrepairable". :(

So, I'll be cleaning the mats etc. out tomorrow morning & signing it over to the insurance company. Then their "Total Loss" department will be calling me later this week to discuss what they'll give me towards a replacement. I've never been down this road before, so if any of you have & can give some pointers, I'd certainly appreciate it. :)

The car is a 2004 Honda CR-V EX with just under 30,000 miles & I think you all know the condition it was in prior to the accident. I've looked up the value on KBB, & it ranges from $17,975 (TradeIn), $20,070 (Private Party Sale) to $22,255 (Dealer Sale). Also I need to look into getting compensated for the Extended Warranty I purchased from the United Auto Group when I bought the car. I had also just put new Yokohama tires on this summer.

Then I'll be shopping about looking for a new 2006 Honda CR-V as I'm not crazy about the redesign that Honda has done for 2007.

Any tips & pointers would be greatly appreciated!!

I did go to the doctor & he checked me out & sent me for a head CT due to the continuing headaches, but apparently they did not find anything alarming there. I'm still stiff & sore & Christmas shopping is definitely out right now :(

This certainly is turning out to be a "December to Remember" :(

Norah

When my wife totaled our car in September, it was much older than yours, a 95 Accord, it was so simple. The adjuster started a base value of the car based on kelly blue book, but then started to add or deduct value based on the condition the car was in based on a comparison of the condition of a basic '95 Accord.

After it was all done, the value of the car was about $1,000 more than KBB. This was due to the condition I had the car in, which was things like scratches, dents, window aging, interior condition, etc. Fortunately I had just spent 16 hours detailing the car 2 weeks earlier. On top of that, I received money back on the sales tax of the value of the car.

I think we got lucky and had a very honest, nice person for an adjuster. We also received numerous calls at home during the process to see if we were doing ok, and if there was anything we needed.

Well the best thing about the December to remember is you are here. From the looks of the vehicle it could very well be a different story.

am very glad that you went to the Doctor to get yourself taken care of. I hope that the headaches and joint pain subside.

I also hope that process of inusrance payment gets worked out amicably. I love researching for a new vehicle. I hope that you find it exciting. i know that you have been very happy with the Honda. I am sure given a little time you will find a vehicle that suits you.

Continue to keep us apprised. Keep and eye on yourself as well. Check back with the doctor if things seems to linger.

Sorry to hear it was a total, but it's probably better than doing that much repair work. You get to start fresh and hopefully swirl free :)
I hope your headaches go away and that no other symptoms appear. I would sue for pain and agony ..not for your head but for the V ;)

Glad to hear that you are sounding well, and I too hope the headaches go away ASAP.

As far as getting you a new vwhicle - take your time and don't get rushed. :)

I'm glad they are going to total it too. Even though I know that car was your baby and you were bonded with it, it would never have been the same after all of that damage had it been repaired. I hope you can find another one that you can love as much. I am so glad that you are okay and I hope that things will get better for you soon. Big kisses and hugs to you Norah! You're the best! :)

For those of you who have been asking . . .

. . . it's been six weeks & I am still fighting with my insurance company over the value of my 04 CR-V, going to physical therapy for my knee, foot, shoulder & neck strains & pains & it's still unclear on the status of the other driver's insurance :(

But on the brighter side, after four weeks of some really "interesting" dealings with local Honda dealers, I took delivery of a 2007 CR-V EX-L in Glacier Blue Metallic on Tuesday night last week. In spite of my explicit instructions that all plastic was to be left on, the lot boys were a little too anxious & had it all detailed by the time my salesman returned to work on Tuesday morning, but it does not look like they "took a buffer to it". :)

This weekend, I was only able to do a quickie clean up & topped with DG AquaWax due to the cold weather & continuing problems with my knee, but I think she's looking pretty good :)

Now I can't wait to get those wheels sealed with PB's Wheel Sealant - I'd forgotten how bad Honda brake dust is :(

Thanks again for all your good wishes :)

Nice new CR-V Norah. One thing down now get yourself healed up and hopefully the insurance company will get things cleaned up so you can move on with your new ride :).
