Zaino without washing? If I do have to wash do I use Dawn or the Zaino wash? What do you guys think?

Out of curiosity I would 50/50 alcohol/water spritz to see what kind of job the SMR did before the wash. The Dawn is needed but might lift the fillers from the SMR and the Zaino if the Z2 may just amplify them.
 
We need more info from you.



What kind of SMR did you use? Was 3M? I think 3M has no filler, wax or oils.



If your SMR had no filler, wax or oils then you can go and use Zaino.



I would prefer a car wash to remove any residue. Dawn if you are using SMR with wax and oils.

I used 3M SMR #39009. The bottle says it contains: Distillates (Petroleum), Acid Treated, Light: Naphthol Spirits: White Mineral Oil(Petroleum) pH = 8.1-8.5. It's a black Audi TT and the process seems to have gotten rid of most of the swirls, 80 to 90%. So maybe the Dawn wash seems the way to go. Does the 50/50 alcohol/water spritz really tell all?
 
I just went out and tried the 50/50 alcohol/water spritz and a few more very minor scratches showed up. Actually I'm not to disappointed given what I started with. So, I think I'll Dawn wash then 3 coats of Z5. Zaino claims that will fill minor swirls. Is that hype or will it help before I use the Zaino polish designed for clearcoat (Z2?)??

Z5 will fill "minor" swirls etc but make sure you apply in str8 strokes not circular .. same with removal. Then go on to Z2
 
Z5 does nothing for swirls IMO. Others could disagree.



I had better result with 3M PII MG to remove swirls. I will try DACP pretty soon.

Help me out here .. does 3M PII MG have fillers? I know Menzerna doesn't and 3M SMR does.
