--I cleaned the Engine Bay on My Legend....*PICS*--

2002 Chevrolet Corvette
Well, as the title states I finally cleaned the engine bay on my 91 Legend Coupe. I've had the car for more than 2 years, but I have always had a fear of putting water under my hood. It was not really that bad-I've seen worse, but I finally got over that fear and went to it.

Actually I was being paranoid. After putting that water under my hood I wanted to make sure my HIDs and Fogs were still working

Almost forgot the most important part!!

I used "Gunk" Citrus Engine Brite. It's a degreaser and "shine".
 
Great job, i have the same fear. did you cover up any of the parts or were extra careful in areas?

Thanks, yes I did cover up some areas. A member of Acura-Legend.com named Leon made a Engine bay cleaning DIY specific to the Legend so everyone would know what to cover up. Here is an "In process" pic so you can see what I covered up.
 
Maybe it is just me... but I don't see any difference in the before and after. The pictures look the same to me. It looks like the hoses may be a little more glossy, but that is it.

Sorry LSMan. I agree with the Fuzz...
The engine compartment looked damn good BEFORE you started.

I guess the just goes to show how bad we can get :lol
But I sure looks good :bigups

I with them, I looks good in both before and after. Didnt even look dirty in the before but I guess you would have to see it in person. Looks fabulous.:) :bigups
 
During any future clean ups you could also always use aluminum foil on very sensitive areas like injectors and sensors. The water will roll off the foil. Safe and cheap. Nice work :bigups

The engine compartment looks great! :bigups You can see than the stuff looks "shinnier"!

However, I have to agree with some of the others................... I've seen "afters" that didn't look as good as your "befores"! :lmfao
 
Thanks guys. On the before's you can't see the dust. There was more dust that didn't really show up in the pic. The engine bay was by no means bad, I just needed to freshen it up.

Damn I knew someone was going to point that out!! That's my Dad's RL. It was only the 2nd car I did when I got my PC. I was still getting used to it and I don't think I worked SSR2.5 in enough on that rear panel. This was actually the first and only time I've seen the marring though.

To tell you the truth, there is a little marring on my paint also that can be seen in direct sunlight. I plan to re-do my Legend and start over with SSR2.5 possibly as soon as next month.
 
I'll confess to this one: I often find myself dusting down my engine compartment with a Swiffer duster especially after longer drives. It really works great, it can push into most of the crevices and areas between hoses, etc. Makes quick maintenance of an already prestine engine compartment :D
 
It does look good. I can tell a difference, but I don't like doing the detailing the engine enough to do that.
