I can't stand Meguiars' DACP...

I pretty much agree also. DACP is nice because it has cleaners and cuts well, but i find it hard to use when i have other stuff that gets me really excited about defect removal, wipes off easy, and doesnt stain the damn trim.

DACP certainly isnt crap as far i am concerned, but it isnt my goto polish.

I use DACP with a rotory and my pc. I have run into the same problems you have had Billy. I found that when using a rotory that less product and a slower speed cured many of those problems. I use a Makita 9227 arouns 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 speed. I went from hating DACP to actually enjoying working with it.

You use DACP once, have problems and automatically assume it must be DACP???

I have used it about ten times actually. I just purchased some more and it reminded me how tough it is to use....

By the way, I use a PC on 4-6 depending on the paint. I use a premium car soap followed by a claying before I polish. I'm no newbie...I used to detail cars professionally in Sarasota in high school and college for beer money and my summer break income. I also don't mean to bash Megs as they make some great products like NXT glass cleaner.

I'm not saying it won't work...it just is not as quality as SSRs or PC Fusion. Why bother when there are better products in other words.

That's what I would do too, if I were you. I think much of the reaction isn't to your findings, but to the way you expressed them.

Up until recently (the last couple years or so), #83 was the only really strong product available for use with the PC. I think that a lot of us figured out how to use it in lieu of any other choice. Now with easier, less finicky alternatives, newer users are wondering why we suggest #83, and we are wondering why they don't like a product that we find works well.

Sorry to hear your having problems with #83 , I'm sure someone would either buy or swap you something for it . :buffing:

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said thus far. #83 is definitely NOT the best product out there, but I don't find it *difficult* to use at all, just ineffective. It takes forever to do it's job, and does require too much product which could lead to gumming/caking. I don't necessarily have any problems with it, but I just don't really like it either.

Bottom line: Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

It took me a while to get used to DACP, but it works well for me......And there is a bit of a learning curve associated with it.

I recently detailed a black Explorer with it, and the results were outstanding.

Never had any problems with it gumming up though.

About the only gumming problems (With PC use) I've ever had with a Meguiars product is with #7, or #81.......And Gold Class Clear Coat Prep & Swirl Reducer (which has been discontinued).

Gum up = old technology + no user friendliness + dated formulation + unnecessary trouble = purchase SSR and have been happy since.
