So I started again this morning on my detail going at the audi with a 4" LC yellow pad and HTEC. So I get the hood done and it looks awesome and thats just with the HTEC. Now heres where I got mad. I go onto the front quarter panel and apparently got to close to the wheel well ( there was a scratch there and I wanted to get rid of it) and im going and the pad RIPS AND FLYS ALL OVER!!! :angry:furious: :hairpull . So I was like o great there goes this. And then I remembered I had a 6.5" yellow CCS pad but I knew this wouldn't be sufficent but I tried it anyway. So I slap that on and I spread with speed 3 and then bump it up to speed 6. So im going along and all of a sudden the pad and backing plate flys off? So i tighten it more and it still flys off!:hairpull Why is it doing this!?!?! So I said screw it and stopped cause I was getting WAY to mad. Now I have to order another 4" yellow pad and I dont know what to do with the 6.5". Should I email the online store where I got it from and tell them it was a piece or what? I almost want to pay someone to just do the car with a rotary but them I feel like crap because I just spent all this money on a new pc and all these supplies. AHHHH I hate this!

not to say that you couldn't or shouldn't have run the PC at 6 (many do on here), but unfortunately that's the risk you take. i run my PC at 5, and focus more on slow overlapping passes in multiple directions, with a good amount of pressure...

The pad and backing plate should not be giving you the problems you stated. Especially new. If the backing plate is detaching itself, you may try tighten it up a little more with a counter rotation of the backing plate and the PC as the final oomph.

I always run my PC at 6 for polishing/cutting operations for years without any such problems.

I would call the vendor and politely state your problem and the fact these episodes wasted a potential detailing session.

FYI. I have purchased the best for my services 4" pads and backing plates from Danase and have been completely satisfied.

I always run at 6 too, and not once have I ever had a pad fly off. Use a 6" backing plate with 6.5" pads and you'll be fine.

I was doing fine with the 4" pad until I got to close to the sheel well. Do you think there would be a local dealer that would have a 4" yellow pad? Does like checker or napa sell them or do I have to order another one offline? I'm just pissed because now I have to wait another weekend and plus pay more money! Do you think if I explained the situation they would send another one out or what? I'm just really disappointed in the quality of the pad (btw I got them from superiorautocare.com and they r LC pads so I just don't uderstand
