I am so tired, i will sleep for a week!

Detailing NY

New member
I did not talk about this before, because I did not want to jinx it or anything.

I was hired to do the Prep for the new Chevy Equinox. It will be on display at the NY Auto Show and will be there for people to take for a test drive.

You may ask why am I so tired for 1 chevy equinox, well how about 101 chevy's, Yep thats right, 101 of them. I was working on them since 6am and got done at 4pm. I did take people with me, but I am so tired right now, my eyes are tearing while I am typing.

Here are some pix.

:shocked Whoa Brian, that must have been an awesome pay day!!

I feel your pain! I'm still sore from doing several interior details this past Sunday. Two were soccer mom Minivans!:scared :shocked

awesome.. I suppose you really got your routine down.. since everyone of those looks to be EXACTLY the same.

What did the prep work involve?

Let me guess....Quikshine and tire dressing, right?

101 cars, wow! I thought I was doing good when Nissan had me come out and prep a new 1997 Maxima and 240SX for their dealer intros. Of course, they wanted me to polish and wax them and also raise each corner of the car and rotate the wheels until 'Nissan' was level. If they had said 101 cars, I would have had to turn it down. No way to gather up enough help that quickly.

101 cars?? That's crazy!! So what exactly did you and your crew did?? Wash and dress the tires on all of them or wash and wax??

well this is what was done for the prep. In order

1. walk around each vehicle and remove all stickers (except for invoice sticker) remove all foam protection molding, remove all carpet protection stickers. Remove left over glue from stickers all around vehicle

2. Wash vehicle

3. Quick shine vehicle

4. Dress Tires

5. Spot Vacuum, the only area that is dirty was the drivers side.

6. Add eyebrow sticker across the windshield.

7. Insert some kind of plate thing in glove box (not sure what it was for, they just wanted it in each vehicle)

It does not seem like a lot when you just read it, but let me assure you that after you do over 50 of them all you want to do is go home, but you have another 50 to do.

My friend that was doing the tires for me, memorized the tire, tire size, tread reading. It was so funny, he knew it all, after all he cleaned and dressed 400 tires.

I had a total of 4 + me doing the cars.

We had the system down and we were really moving. The trick is not to jump from one car to the other. You want to work on one and totally finsh it so you never have to go back to it. All of us on one car at a time, with each one having a job to do.

It was a real long day.

I never want to see a silver Equinox again, but here is the trick.

**I HAVE TO GO BACK TOMORROW TO THE AUTO SHOW AND DO THEM ALL OVER AGAIN**

2 days of cleaning

100 each day

200 cars washed & cleaned in 2 days.

What a nap i will need when this is all over.

This might be a stupid question but how dirty is a 2004/2005 brand new car?

What did you do to all 101 of them?

OMFG! Detailer nightmare!! I bet you'll dream of these for sometime now.. Hopefully, they fade into a fleet of Porsche GT's :D

Nice work big guy!!!!!

Well, looks like I'll be at the show on Monday and will have to find them.

Dude, you deserve some serious time away from ANY silver at this point!

Go get some needed rest!
