I am a little dissapointed in Zaino today!

I put Zaino Z-5/Z-2/Z-8 on my truck over some OP and Z-1 2wks ago. I have been using this combo for the better part of 7months now with no ill effects. Paint has always remained perfect. Today I washed my truck after some recent "mild" off-roading on some farm paths, and there is water spots from Hell! All over the truck, chrome, glass, paint, rims. All of which have been protected with Zaino. I have never had this happen before. I hate to keep polishing when I dont need too, but I cant live with the spots. I am just wondering why this would have happened. I just put some AW over it to get me to tues. when I can buff it, and the paint was so grabby and "not slick at all".

BTW-I have some killer before and after pics for yall later this week. You wont belive my truck could look like it did.

Who knows what could have been in that water. Probably would have happened no matter what polish or wax you were using. Nothing will protect you from some things like bird crap and acidic rain etc. What is OP? Optimum polish? If so did you do a 50/50 wipe prior to your Zaino app? You could of had a bonding issue if oils remained. :nixweiss

You're not alone here. I've tried to like it but have been disappointed every time I use it. Not for the same reasons you list, I'm just not crazy about its looks. Are you using the same water source for washing as usual?

Nothing really stands up to heavy water etching. Park a black car on a sunny summer day next to water sprinklers and odds are, no matter what you have on the car, you will end up having to polish out the water spots.

Optimum is working on a wipe-on/wipe-off water spot remover (you still have to reseal after using it) but it is still in the developmental stages.

Z2pro may not be to your liking. Personally I prefer Z5pro topped with Z8 on mettallics.

Duragloss has had one on the market for a while. I picked up a bottle at a local CarQuest, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Sounds like your wash water is full of minerals. Is it well water? Or city water? I think your going to have to polish them out. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Could the spots be in the layer of protection itself? I noticed the same thing after using zaino for the first time. I have never had water spots in the past when using other lsp's. After prepping with ZPC, Z5x3 + Z2 the finish was almost flawless. After a couple days of rain i noticed water spots on my hood.

were the spots whiteish? if so it's probably mineral deposits in your water. If it looks like clear etching in the Zaino then it's probably acid rain spots (puddles) from off roading.

Z2Pro spots very soon here, just as Megs #21. Waxes are the only solution to prevent them. But the rain here is very dirty and holds a lot of calcium/dirt.
