Hyundai Santa Fe

About two weeks ago I posted photos of my Daewoo, well 4 days after posting those photos it died. I decided to buy a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe last Monday night. It was a former Hertz rental car. It has just over 21,000 miles. I just finished detailing it a few minutes ago and added those windows deflectors. I only did a few things to it, because it was pouring this morning and sun decided to come out at 5:00.I work at the Hyundai dealer I bought it at and I was told it got the standard buffing of the hood and the inside was cleaned as well when it came into us 2 weeks ago from the auction. The pollen and heavy rain took all of the wax off if there was even any. Next week it will get another coat of wax and a coat of Nu Finish. Pardon the poor picture taking.

Finals:

Megs Tech Wash
Megs Tech Wax
Megs High Endurance Tire Shine on wells and wheels.
Ice showroom shine

There are no before because it really wasn't that dirty since I just picked it up this past week. Are there any good wheel sealants or wax's out there?

Questions comments welcome.

Nice work.
Don't tell anyone, but I'm a fan of the Sante Fe.
I especially like working on the berber (sp?) interior.
I like the pastel colours on other people (just not me).

Thanks, I have loved them since they came out, and being 18 I couldn't afford it as my first car, but now I am working full time at the dealership detailing so every little bit helps. The inside has many curves, especially around the dash, but it's easy to clean.

Congratulations on the new ride, it looks really good. Now you don't have to be the only one in the family with a Daewoo instead of a Hyundai! :D

mgm- Ice is from Turtle Wax. It it by far one of the best products I have ever used. It puts a very nice shine on the cars. Here is a link to the product. I have not yet tried the Polish, I didn't even know it existed, may pick some up tomorrow.

pogo-Thanks! Yes, this makes our 6th Hyundai within my immediate family, and outside, uhhh...I lost count.:wall

It does include full factory warranty so that does give me some piece of mind, and I had it checked out by my mechanic and everything checked out. They know I will raise hell if I have problems with it.My boss was the one who buffed it. He could really care less about some cars, and this one of them. I guess he thought the rest didn't need buffing. There are some scratches throughtout, 2 of the big ones I had taken out on Thursday, the rest I will do myself. For a Rental it is in great shape with the exception of a tiny dent.

Edit:This was a response to Budman, don't know why it got placed above.

1- As Jeff Foxworthy say's "This rental car will see more air time then a skate board at the X-Games"

2- Sounds like a true dealership- "Standard buffing of the hood" What about the rest of the vehicle?? I guess the hood is the only part that needs polishing.

3- I have Poorboy's wheel sealant and have heard great reviews of it. I haven't used it yet though. 2-3 layers and you'll have protection for a while.

Anyways congrats on the new ride and hopefully this won't die in 4 days.

Poorboy's Wheel Sealant works very well.

Have heard a few things as of late about Ice from Turtle Wax. Most have said it produces a good shine. i.e. your pictures.

Others have mentioned how slick the product is on paint. Did you find the product slick as well, HyundaiLvr87?

Congrats on the car,its always fun to get a new car then detail yourself.
I gave my daughter 2006 scion an ext detail.I was surprised to see the amount of rail dust in the new paint same thing with the lexus the other day it was also loaded with rail dust.My mom purchased a 2007 Toyoya Camry the so i'll be polishing another one. Good Luck with the car and enjoy it.

sneek- I love the Tech line of products, they work great.

cwcad- Yes Ice provides a very good shines, before I was using a product I bought from QVC that worked very well, but Ice definitely out performs it. It's not cheap either. I think I paid $10 at walmart for it.

Joe- Thanks, Yes rail is a common problem on some cars. Last summer I worked at a dealer that had Chevy and all of them came in with a ton of raildust, especially the trailblazer. The Ford dealer I work at now also receives cars with rail dust, especially fusions. The 07 Camry is a nice car.

I woke up this morning to a thunderstorm, there goes my clean car. However, I can tell it definitely needs atleast one more coat of wax.

Re: Hyundai Santa Fe (Updated)

Last night we got a few rounds of thunderstorms so the truck got dirty from the pollen that had stuck to it before the storms, the pink leaves all over the truck didn't help either. This morning I picked up some Turtle Wax Ice Polish. It works great!

All I did today was:

wipe it down with ICE detailier Spray
Ice Polish
and reshine the tires with Meguiars
