Hydrosilex Recharge

Sizzle Chest

I just used this today. Had to try it out. I just used it on the hood of our coated Benzo. I used the `dry` method. The car was dry and I wanted to see how it performed/performs as a coating topper.

Smell: Not unpleasant. Can`t place it. A little fruity maybe?

Viscosity: Watery. A little goes a long way. It spreads easily and I did not encounter any streaking.

After wiping, the surface was ridiculously slick! Very nice!

I will keep this thread posted with any additional beading properties/longevity.

I also tried it out yesterday on my TT Roadster. Off label - as can be expected from me - as a drying aid. Excellent results.

Nice to see the Jae-mobile is still getting some love! Is this the same manufacturer as the coating? Or did you `cross the streams`?

Just tried Hydrosilex Recharge after a Wolfgang Uber Rinseless Wash in the garage this evening. Car was coated 6 months ago with CarPro CQuartz TiO2.

The product is excellent! It reminds me of Reload, but without the oily feel and potential application issues.

The paint surface after applying is very slick.

Durability has yet to be seen...

OK, used it some and applied it `properly` now that I had a little time. The car is coated. I waterless washed it, clayed it and then used Hydrosilex on the whole vehicle excluding the glass. Now that I know I did it the `right` way, I will be able to give proper updates!

Super glossy!

This HydroSilex is a product to watch and to also get. It`s stupid easy and since we have been using it for a good while now the results and feedback from customers has been great. Very slick and super gloss.

I would say, depending on care methods, 3 months is good estimate. Can be sold to customers as a "booster" to what ever coating applied OR just sell it as a "coating up-sell". $500 detail BUT we can add a HydroSilex coating for an extra $175 kinda deal.

OK...Hydrosilex? Who makes it? And where do I get it?

Similar to HydroBlue?

So it can be applied either as a stand alone coating or on a wet car, like HydroBlue or used a quick detailer? Geez...sounds like a game changer. I thought hydroBlue was the ticket.

Skeptical but interested and will follow along. If it`s just another flavor of something like CarPro Reload, I`ll likely just stay with what I know. If it turns out better than I`d move to it. In terms of "slickness" I do enjoy that property on toppers/detail sprays. Optimum Opti-Seal is excellent for that too. Not sure how the two compare or the longevity vs one another but it would be an interesting test. I love the Opti-seal WOWA application and know it does excellent on glass, especially windshields.

I`m not worried nor do I care about frequency of application / longevity but it`s nice to know. The reason being is like most car guy detailers I`m always touch the car in some way with something to keep the very top level of treatment going.

To me removing road grime and contaminants are key to the hydrophobic property that I love as I dry my cars with a blower. Nothing aggravates me more than to see thousands of little droplets left on the surface as I hit it with a blower. That IMO is a sign of road grime or contaminants holding the water back. That`s something no topper will address.

I value Scott`s experience and opinions a lot so I`ll be keeping an eye on his updates.

I just did a maintenance wash on the vehicle and I added one additional `layer` of this product via the `wet` method. Very easy to use and similar to a lot of the water activated sealants out there IMO, in terms of hydrophobic properties.

The MSDS/SDS is not on line. It is promoted as hydrophobic ceramic, suggesting that the “ceramic” is fumed Silicon dioxide on a polymer, properly called PolyDiMethylSiloxane. PDMS is at AmaXon for ~$10/8 oz. A common name is dimethicone It is emulsified in water.

For about $20 I got PDMS, and an emulsifier, enough to make about twenty gallons. “Doug’s DIY Shinola” @ Link Removed

Has anyone tried IGL premier and can tell me how this product stacks up to that ?

I’ve been happy with IGL Premier and was wondering how HydroSilex compares

In general, Premier > Hydrosilex. Premier is slicker, a bit glossier and seems to have about 33% more longevity (kinda a guess at %).

IMO, Premier is a bit overpriced unless you`re able to get at Installer/Certified pricing. I found that most of the consumer available IGL products (Wheel, Window, Wheel, etc) are about 2x the cost of similar products from say, Gyeon, and perform about as well. Decent, kinda upper mid range but not exceptional enough to justify boosted consumer pricing.

I haven’t used Premier but based on what I read I would say it is more like CarPro Reload than Hydrosilex.

I have been through almost an entire bottle of Hydrosilex and I would say it is more like CarPro Hydro2 Lite. Especially since it is so watery and can supposedly be used as a spray and rinse product. I have not had any luck this way though.

Overal at this point I would say Hydrosilex is overrated and not worth the purchase. It’s not revolutionary as it is copying other existing products and it really is any better in any way. Just a Facebook flash marketing push that is getting it out there. I would love to be proven wrong but so far it’s not working. I might just have to to my own YouTube review.

Pricing aside. You feel the Premier has better overall looks, gloss and durability.

I don’t like to waste $, but if it’s better and I need to apply 33% less often I’ll stick with it. I’ve been happy so far but I’m always lokkkng for more durability, better looks and then the best price.

Thanks

Yep, pretty much. I`d say it`s at the top tier of Spray Sealants/Coatings/Boosters or whatever they`re calling them this month.

A step below Overcoat, Cosmic Spritz and VS1 Final Coat in the `booster` category but as a standalone, it`s pretty good, kinda on par with 22ple Finitura.

To be honest, I don`t reach for it much, not really sure why...likely personal preference and `If it ain`t broke, don`t fix it` mentality with regards to my usual products of this nature. It`s been nearly a year now but the TAC Moonlight debacle left some scars...

It will be interesting to see what people on here think about it. It was brought up on another forum and had almost all less than favorable comments.
