i was driving through some heavy rain when i had to go through some water (1-2) in 3 MAX and went through it and when i was going through it i saw that my check engine and ASC light came on so i pulled over to reset the ECU. The engine was running fine and the idle was smooth, i turned it off, and then try to restart it... it doesn't turn over.

You think the spark plugs are just wet and need to be dried and then try to turn it over? Or am i pretty much screwed on this one...?

Im praying it just needs to dry out a bit!

could be water in the exhaust. Pull your plugs and crank. Change your oil about 3 times and make sure it isnt milky.

What kinda of car do you have?

Doesn't sound like it hydrolocked, motor would have shut down immediately or you'd have felt the engine blow/shake..I've seen engines crack their blocks from water ingestion, water doens't like to be compressed lol. Where is your intake located and was it wet?

water could have backed up the pipe however if your still on the gas it won't, just like offroading through mudd, stay on the gas or at least moving and your fine, stop and you risk water flowing back through the exhaust.

Have you checked plugs? Wiring?

i have a 1997 bmw 318i... yeah and were bringing it to a shop and they gonna change out the plugs and stuff and see if it will crank

Water pry fouled your plugs and screwed up some sensors, if your engine hydrolocked it would have froze immediately or blown, you wouldn't have been able to drive.

more then likely some electronics got wet & shorted or something unrelated

a small amout of water will actually help clean the engine

and a large amount will break something

not hydrolocked

F.Y.I. next time if it is still running ok don't stop

the heat from the engine could have helped dry stuff out(if that was even the problem)
