Howzcome...?

Many of today's traffic courts are overcrowded, hence the need for traffic schools to process the violators. Do you think traffic schools are more of a deterrent for repeat offenders or paying fines?

its about $35 for 6 hrs...or $70 you can give the guy as u walk in and hell give ya the certificate then u wlak out......not that i did it but i heard about those treacherous practices.....:p its another way for the system to make $ off of drivers....regie fees are nuts...insurance is crazy $ up here....inpsections...etc...etc....people are gonna drive the way they drive.....thats why some nutso's drive after their license is suspended...cause they dont care.....but i guess maybe for the occasional ticketed driver it will curtail their antics on the road....so far ive seen the bombing of the WTC be the only thing that made people around here more courteous....and that only lasted for about a week and a half....and that was with troopers all over and national guardsman with M-16's all over the place:eek:

My traffic school expierence was much like FLONI's.....it's a total joke. In Ohio drivers must go to traffic school before they can even get a license. It has been a few years since I took it, but you need to complete classroom time and driving time. The cost for traffic school here is around $350. The classroom time is just sitting there filling out worksheets from a book. Then your driving time is taking people home who are leaving the classroom, and then you have to pick people up and take them back for their classroom time.

Traffic School is a TOTAL RIPOFF!

I got a ticket a few months ago for running a stop sign and since it was more than 18 months since my last one i got to go to traffic school. I took it online and it was a joke. It only took me about 2 hours to complete the class and this included making and eating lunch and i was watching a movie at the same time. I bet if i really needed to i could have completed the class in 45 minutes or less easy. and the class was only $15.

I've taken it twice. Once in Texas and once in Utah. The one in Utah was a friggen joke. 3 hours of nothing but boring blah blah blah. The one in Texas was 6 hours split into 2 nights. That was just twice as blah blah blah boring. I heard that they used to show really hairy films about car accidents and things like that to scare you into driving better. I think they need to have a seperate course you have to take based on your ticket. A DUI should see a different film than a speeder.

All of my speeding tickets were out in the middle of nowhere and pretty safe as far as speeding goes. I was in a high performance car and driving within the limits of the machine. It just happend that I got caught testing the limits a couple times. :) Speeders need to see what happens when you speed in a vehicle that isn't designed for speed. There is a huge difference between going 115 in a Mustang vs a mini van. That is about all I'd like to see being added.

I'd have to say that traffic school was just another part of the fine that I had to endure to keep it off my record. It didn't scare me into slowing down. It just made me be more cautious in the areas that I got pulled over in. They need to make the courses harder core so that it will actually make a difference.

It used to be in CA if you went to traffic school you didn't have to pay the fine but it has been more than 10 years since that time. Now you have to pay the fine and pay for the traffic school fee. In CA (if this loophole hasn't closed) you can attend traffic school on the internet.

In Texas theres an online one called Txdriving.com. It takes 6 hours to complete and you must take little tests after each of the 20 some chapters. In addition, a little popup window appears every 4 or 5 minutes and you have 30 seconds to answer it correctly or you are forced to start the chapter over. It sucks! It entails actual reading and work. You actually have to pay attention. I think I'll just go in person to a Defensive Driving School. At least they'll give me lots of breaks and pizza. Laters

When I took my defensive driving class I was living out in Greenville. Its a little east of Dallas. Anyway, the class was at Ryan's which is one of those 'all you can eat' kind of places. It was really weird. I'm not much of an eating type person. I would have rather just taken the stupid class and been done with it. The class in Salt Lake was at the court house. They turned the thermostat down to about 20 degrees and showed us a video. Highly effective. Taking the classes is motivation for me not to get caught speeding. I hate em.

Didn't know exactly where to put this one, seems like "Everything Else" oughta do.

When someone mentions how hot/cold/wet/dry their weather is or posts a deal they found I frequently look up in the corner of the post to see where they're from. And frequently I see nothing. Just wondering howzcome more people don't at least put their location in their profile?

If I ever become King of Online Forums it'll be decreed mandatory. :judge:
