How to safely clean "burnt" titanium exhaust tips?

Here' an example of what I'm talking about:

From what I understand this "burnt" effect is created by heating up the titanium, and that it can be polished back to a standard mirror finish. Assuming that one wants to keep the "burnt" look, the polishes that many of would use on an exhaust tip to clean and polish it up would ruin it.

Any tips how to effectively and safely clean a burnt titanium exhaust tip without ruining the finish?

Only experience I have with titanium is with a raw titanium not a polished one like yours but soap and water worked great most of time. I would just grab a shop rag and wipe it down, maybe some APC if it was dirty but it stayed clean really well most of the time.

I loved all the colors that exhaust would turn.
