How to remove shoe scuffs on door sill?

My wife is scuffing the bejesus out of the door sill and leather trim when she gets into our Vette. It really looks like heck and I need to clean it up.

Any ideas of the best way to go about this?
 
Have your wife stop wearing those steel stilettos. :)



If it is just scuffs and not marring you can try Meguiar's Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner #39 or Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner #40. Both should remove any residue. I'd be sure to apply a protectant over the area after cleaning.
 
Agree Magic Eraser is effective ... but be a little careful and use common sense. If you attack the vinyl hard with it you can cause some marring. If used gently it works well.
 
But Jfelbab was right about fighting the sickness and not the symptoms. Just tell your wife not to scuff your door up anymore.
 
Wow, okay - I must address these answers and give you something to work with that won't destroy your trim.

Clay will just leave residue, it won't work noticably well on scuffs. That's not even remotely close to the proper application of clay.

degreaser, sure, but be careful on vinyl may discolor.

rubbing compound is abrasive, you should wait as a final step if you can't get it off with other otions I will list here first. Besides, if you MUST go abrasive, lightly use a magic eraser.

Whow there! Be careful with adhesive remover, it's a solvent and might damage the vinyl. Discolor, even misshape the material.

Theres your answer. One other vinyl cleaner I prefer is vinylex. Also, if you use a magic eraser, be VERY LIGHT. A magic eraser IS abrasive, and not only will it mar, it will strip off some of the vinyl. Some vinyl is coated with a thin layer of rubber and it will either remove it, or make it easier for your girl to make a gash beaucse it's so thin after you stripped it down. Regardless, this should be your first step, but follow up your final step, whether it be this or a magic eraser with the protectant.
