How to prevent lambskin mitts from getting stiff?

How can I prevent this? I noticed after drying them they got stiff(er) than they were new. Is it safe to use a stiff(er) mitt to wash the car? Thanks.

Once you let it soak in your wash bucket for a bit it will soften right back up. To speed things along open it up and dunk it in so the water/wash fills the inside of the mitt.

Ditto..:usa

Let it soak in your bucket for a minute or two, while you put up the wiper blades and rinse the loose dirt off the car, will work like a charm.

It'll probably look pretty obvious ;) It'll lose its "fur" and have bare spots or the lining will rot/etc. or you'll get some kind of really nasty stuff stuck to it that won't wash out. And at that point I'd still use it for wheels/etc.
