How to maintain the freshly waxed car

So I just finished my first detail. After washing and drying, I used the mothers clay bar followed by nxt wax. Thanks to all who convinced me that the clay bar was a good idea. It really made the finish smooth as glass. It now looks great. :woot2:

My next question is how do I maintain it? Can I just spray it with quick detailer and wipe the dirt away? Or do I have to wash it first? are these products designed to clean and protect in one application or will I just scratch the paint?

Thanks again for all the help.

well you can use the QD if there is ONLY light dust, otherwise you'll possibly scratch the paint.if theres anything more than dust, its best to wash.

How do like the new GTI? I love the color :bigups Any mods? I’m a life-long Dubber, but decided to part ways after the MK4.

I’m not a fan of QDs for light cleaning or dust removal . . . too easy to induce marring. My preference is to wash and follow-up with a QD to maintain gloss and protection [if applicable]. Maintaining your car’s appearance requires TLC - the best advice I can give you is hang around Autopia.

Good luck :)

If the car gets dirty, wait a week for the rest of the car to get dirty, then wash it. QDs cause WAY tyo much marring, and I devote them only to bird droppings, and Pre-wax cleaning of my paint.

I love it. The 2.0T is really pulling hard since the break-in and the seats are very supportive. I'm still finding little gadgets and eastereggs not listed in the manual.

Thanks for the advise. I'll be washing and using QD frequently over the winter.

Does anyone know if there's a temperature limit for applying QD or nxt wax?
