How to keep track of clients and details?

There is commercial software available for the detailing business. Kinda pricey at $2200.

I probably could put together a web based system that could be accessed by computer, iPhone, and any other device with internet capabilities. Let me know how many might be interested in something like this.

We have done another web based system for the horse show people to keep track of the points, winners, etc. It's a subscription type program requiring secure login etc. Not open to the general public.

Well, I need some techno help here...

I'm using a pen and paper calendar to schedule...

QuickBooks for invoicing and checkwriting.

I'm not mobile, so portability is not paramount.

What 'new' technology/software should I be aware of?

On a separate subject, sorta, I do have a "Network

Camera" to monitor the Shop from home (or anywhere).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Anyone accepting Payment/Credit Cards over a mobile device? Merchant Account, Paypal Virtual Terminal....

Yes - I use a Nurit 8000 with my Wells Fargo Merch acct. VERY nice. It's wireless and works anywhere cell service is available. It's also quad mode, analog, digital etc... It's also very professional looking when you can swipe cards and print all on one device. Customers love it.

I accept Credit/debit cards online, through my website. Paypal business account.

I switched off web gateways as I had my merchant account manager review our rates. Found out that web based solutions, (while I love em) cost you a lot more in fees. It relates to "card not present" vs "card swiped". They ding you hard for card not present. Be aware. Merchant accts cost a little more up front in time to setup, but once going, they're awesome. The wireless device supports all kinds of cards, even smart cards.

BTW... Amex is a major killer on fees. Wish I could not accept it, but with high-end folks, not going to happen. Ever seen a black car???
