I think for most people detailing especially paint correction is something that people do not know or care about. Like many trades where labor is involved, the pricing can be quite divergent. That is, someone can charge less and still do the same quality work as someone who charges a lot more. Also, know what your competitors are charging. If they are charging less, you should be able to explain why. If you are charging less, you can emphasize why as well so they do not feel you are cutting corners.
If you want people to want your services, you have to satisfy some need. I think more time should be spent on selling interior cleaning rather than paint correction. The selling aspect is convincing people they need something especially when it is so discretionary.
Some people, professionals like real estate, etc, need clean cars. The average person needs to be convinced why the need it ..appeal to some basic urge (protecting car value or just making it tolerable to travel in). Why is having a clean exterior and interior important to them?
You can extract a lot of money from some buyers (the more disposal cash the easier) but if you cannot make a living of these I think you need to target the needs of the ones less willing to part with cash.
I do think doing less than autopia grade work (using expensive products, etc) is fine if you can cover your normal expenses but then you make less per hour than more skilled activities. You just have to be efficient. You can upsell extras as you go along.
