how to get rid of Armor-All residue?

The previous owner of my car must have really enjoyed the Armor All. I'm trying to mount the remote display for my Valentine 1 radar detector on the trim that surrounds my gauge cluster, but the adhesive for the velcro won't stick for anything.



What can i use to rub on this plastic to get rid of anything that might be on it?



a friend suggested rubbing alcohol (90%)
 
A similar situation to this came up not too long ago.



I'd recommend a good APC with some MF or cotton terry towels. Rubbing alcohol can damage plastic (and it does more often than not, hence why we don't really use it much at work and most of the time the packages come with a non alcohol based cleaner as well).



I also find Surf City Garage Dash Away to work well, and it has UV blockers in it as well.
